Working for the city has been great for me. Do you have any idea who it is your waiting for? Have you spoke with anyone? I can look into it for you, sometimes there are holds on projects because of dumb little things and they usually have these listed on a City website that can be accessed from our cpus. Let me know.

MmmHmmm, you must have lung cancer.

FWIW, My grandmother died at 82 from colon cancer. She'd smoked since being a teen.

My grandfather died at 76 essentially from Alzheimers. The doctors said that if he had told him he had never smoked they would have believed him. His lungs were clean as a whistle, and he'd smoked 2 packs a day since he was 14.

My grandmother is 89. She still smokes, and has since she was a teen.

    My parents are fine, too.

What I believe you have is hypochondria. Take two placebo and call me in the morning.

The fact is we all get older. As we get older, things happen that we aren't used to. We can't run as fast, etc. It is human nature to want to blame these things on something other than ourselves getting older. We want a scapegoat. Second hand smoke is the albatross these days.

    And it is false.

Now I'm certainly not saying that cigarettes can't be damaging. I truly feel sorry for people who get lung cancer. But the fact is they had cancer in their genes, so they were probably going to get cancer anyhow.

What we need to find is a cure for cancer. Not a bunch of whiners worrying about every f-ing little thing that may or may not irritate them.

If I die from smoking, that's my own damn fault. I'm personally sick of smoking. It smells, people don't like it, I cough up phlegm, etc. I personally know I'm going to die of something. I don't know of what yet, and I don't care. I could die tomorrow. I choose to live life by my rules.

Once again, if you were to come up to me in a place where I can smoke these days, and ask me to stop, you're not going to like the response.

Second hand smoke, (unless its in a bar/enclosed small area) ain't gonna do jack **** to you. Or at least no more than any of the other million things that can hurt you.

    Get over it.

Fatty...you seem to be an everyday idiot....You cannot admit a point that seems to be the consensus of any doctor (non-idiot regular person for that much) that smoking is harmful for both the smoker and via secondhand smoke. Philip Morris USA admits this belief... the people that sells the products admits that they believe this as fact and you cannot.

    FROM: http://www.pmusa.com/health_issues/cigarette_smoking_and_disease.asp

I wonder how they can admit this point and you can argue it.

Umm, mrpaige..... 'Failure to ID' IS a legal charge in Texas. I prosecute them every week. I'm not sure under what circumstances you're talking about, but I can cite you you code if you like.

Let me break it down quickly: If, let's say, you are a witness during an investigation and a licensed peace officer asks for your name and you simply remain silent, it can be a Class C (these are fairly rare). You'll handle it in JP or Municipal court.

If you are being detained (like on a traffic stop, etc...) and you give a wrong name or date of birth, that is a Class B, and you will be seeing me in County Court.

If you happen to have a warrant out for your arrest at the time you decide to give a wrong name or date of birth to an officer who has detained you, it is a Class A, and again you and me will have a date in County Court. Why you may ask? Because the person is considered a 'fugitive' at the time, so the charge is enhanced.

Maybe you and I have our wires crossed and I'm not clear on what you were talking about though. But to say it is not a charge in Texas is just false.

    FrancisFan: Sticks and stones....

I'm not saying that they can't be harmful. I am saying that it affects different people differently, just like everything else.

Some people can eat whatever they want and stay thin. Other people have obesity disorders.

Some people can have a drink whenever they want and not be addicted. Other people are alcoholics.

To simply state that something is dangerous to everybody is a moronic view, in my opinion.

There are so many things that are "bad" for us these days. Smoking gets the worst rap, along with drunk driving. Both of these were non-issues thirty years ago. My oh my how we've all matured as a "Nation" in these past thirty years. We're all so much more responsible. We know every danger there is now.

Liver was good for us. Then it was bad for us. Now its good for us again.

I'd like to use my time machine and go thirty years into the future to find out what will be "bad" for us then.

Smoking is a bad habit that can kill some people later on in life. It is certainly not an absolute, and shouldn't be treated as such.

And guys, formulate your own opinions. I'm tired of y'all cutting and pasting articles written by some flavor of the week as "proof". As we all know, "experts" are more often found wrong than right as time passes.

Trust me. Look up medical theories fifteen years ago. What a bunch of idiotic quacks they were.

Drunk driving... You're probably one of those people who it enhances there ability to driver, right?

Even in the 60's ( more than the stated 30 years ago ) the CDC released a report stating that smoking was causing cancer.

    Link: http://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/overview/chron96.htm#1964

"Experts"....by experts you mean doctors, right? If not doctors who do you want to say and study if smoking is bad.

All the links that I have posted are from reputable sources, the CDC and Philip Morris (maybe not reputable but are making a statement against themselves and their profits).

You say that smoking is bad and all, but look at your last sentence(s) and what do you mean by:

...You want the proof Philip Morris showed you the proof.

Believe it or not this is a true story....

You know the lanes on the tollways that demand exact change? The one's that everyone lines up in and then wait until they get to the front of the line to start exploring the innermost parts of their car for spare coins? One time I was behind a woman that was actually trying to throw a dollar bill into the change basket. After she noticed the machine did not accept her currency, she would reach in there and grab it, wad it up, and throw it back in. After she repeated this exercise several times with failure,I did what any other compasionate human being would do, I honked at her! She threw up her arms in anger and began violiently trying to make the machine take her dollar bill. After a few more honks I finally got out of my car, picked up a few quarters off the ground that missd their mark, and tossed them in the basket for her.

I hate idiots that ride bikes with leashed dogs.

Why don't I put a chain on your neck and hook it to my bumper...then I'll drive all around the neighborhood.

So it effects everyone differently. You admit this but then you say that it doesnt hurt anyone in your family. Well good for you and your family. Just because if allegedly hurt you and your family doesnt mean that it wont hurt other people. As you said it effects everyone differently. So why do you have the right to hurt the people that it does hurt? Because it doesnt hurt you?

I was in an enclosed space (a bar) with second hand smoke for five years. My doctor has confirmed that have decreased overall lung capacity as a direct result. Ya, that's right a doctor. I guy I trust with health issues more than a cat with a Finance degree from Lubbock.

Hypochondria? My God are you channelling Dennis Leary circa 1995? You really are an *******.
