If Jackson doesn't return, it has nothing to do with our young team. Oh and Yao and T-Mac may be young, but we're the oldest team in the NBA. Not exactly sure I understood your response.
They may be "helping each other out" but there's a helluva a lot more help going from Hill to Francis. The Magic are +11.6 with Hill on the court and -2.8 with Francis on the court. Hill is so good, Jameer Nelson (+6.5) could run the Magic. From a shear statistical perspective, Hill, Turkoglu, Nelson and to a lesser extent Cato should be given a lot of credit for the Magics' success. They are the ones playing minutes with a positive +/-. For the disbelievers: http://www.82games.com/0405ORL.HTM http://www.82games.com/0405ORL2.HTM
with out francis the magic would have lost to the hawks, sixers, bucks, and hornets, so plus mius means crap, only stat that counts is w/L
Gater, agree with everything you say, and point out that SF has a young PF picked in the last draft who is more than holding his own at that position. So my point again about Yao is give him Tmac = Hill, but where is the Turkoglu, the Nelson and the young true PF support? Not there. Whose fault? Not JVG. Point the finger at 7-8 years of poor personnel moves, Griffin being the largest. I think that JVG did everything he could to fill this team out during the offseason, then Sura went down - but showed up again last night. So continue to bench Juwan, cut Taylor's minutes, play Spoon & Padgett. Cut JJ's minutes and play Padgett there some plus Boki. Leave Ward on the IR and play Sura and AB more, gradually cutting Lue's minutes - sorry Tyronn but Sura and AB show the natural drive to be able to actually run an offense, until they prove otherwise. Trade Juwan and Ward for whatever we can get.
it just illustrates how people still don't understand the value he brings to a team. Last night he basically closed out the game being involved in their last 11 points with 7 points and 2 assists. They went from being down by 2 with 2:30 to play to winning by 5. There are no stats for that.
Hatred is an blinding thing isn't Folx don't want to give Francis ANY credit They also don't want to look at this trade REALISTICALLY FRANCIS + CAt > T-mac Cato = Howard and Lue at this point for me So the Magic won T-mac alone does not overcome all that the Magic got I had hopes for Howard and Lue but I'm not impressed Rocket River
bottom line being we gave away too much in this deal to get Tmac.... yes, it is hard to pass on the opportunity... but after taking the chance, we need to make some good signing of players to build around.... which is wat our current team defiinitely lack of now..... this season might be ugly for Rockets.... hopefully down the road we can make some trades to get the nice pieces to fit in with Tmac
I agree; from a talent standpoint the rockets were going to take a step back. From what i read, it seemed that most understood that back in June/July. I still believe this team will make the playoffs but get bounced out in the 1st round; just as i expected them to 5 months ago.
Does anyone remember what our team was like last year? So, we'd have a few more wins. Big deal. We'd still be only the 6th best team in the West(at best) and just waiting for the season to end so we can go 1 and out in the playoffs. As bad as JVG's offense is, Yao has been the big reason for our failure as of late and that WILL pick up. Hell, would steve and co. have been much help if they were being double teamed all game long while Yao was having the bad game he has been? No way. This team goes with Yao, and unfortunately he's been in a slump. I know people want to shove steve's good recent play in our faces, but immediate success wasn't the objective of this trade...the loss of cat was huge for us but with sura coming back and Barrett showing promise, I'm actually anxious to see how this team will turn out in the long run...not just the first 18% of the season. In the meantime I'm glad no one is overreacting or trying to shove steve's 'success' in our faces...
Unfortunately when yao has had good games this season, we have lost. Nothing will change until the offensive scheme changes.
I know what you mean, but when the guy your offense revolves around is playing worse than greg ostertag you aren't going to have a good chance to win.
How about a quick defender that has good lateral movement, can block shots and grab more rebounds? Would that do anything for ya?
And spread the floor on offense by shooting the 3pt shot, and crashing the offensive glass for 2nd chance points. DD
Amen, EG is exactly what we are missing. And before anyone starts preaching how it was all EG's fault. There is no disagreeing with that. EG screwed up and deserved to be punished for his actions. But JVG kicking him off the team permanently served noone accept JVG,s absolute desire for control. So EG should get the blame for not handling his emotional problems for **** but JVG gets the blame for this kid not being Rocket.
Here's what you said in the defensive thread: I totally agree. Do you really thing EG fits this description? Hustle and give 100% every night? I don't think so.
