Top heavy teams don't really scare me. It's still Memphis/Thunder/Nuggets/Rockets and everyone else.

The players and coaches are trying to win, and they are winning. Have you not seen the improvement the last couple of years. The Rockets will continue to improve as their players gain more experience. It’s not that complicated.

I just don't think we can win title with current lineup, no matter how to develop.

I dont disagree with those wanting a splash or wanting to consolidate, get a closer etc. But they should be guys who fit the timeline and are good enough to warrant a max/supermax.

We currently have 7 young guys Rox are grooming to take over. Right now Sengun is a 22 yr old all star so I assume he is part of the core. Amen isnt an all star but he is beasting and will likely make the max upon his extension. If we get another max/supermax guy then the other guys will likely need to be shipped out cuz with 2 maxes and Sengun there wont be enough money for everyone. So whoever that other max guy is he should be good enough to be worth more than some combination of Tari, Jabari, Cam, Sheppard and Green. To me, that cancels out a lot of the max non superstar players like Zach Lavine, Jimmy Butler, Brandon Ingram, Zion, Fox etc Maybe they are good for other teams, but we have lots of talent.

Next is the age. The oldest guys we have are 23 Tari Eason, Jalen and Sengun. KD, Booker, AD etc these guys are old AF. We only have a limited hoard of assets cuz we used them to draft the young guys, every pick or player we blow for a KD means that asset is gone. When we get someone I want that dude who fits the timeline. And right now there isnt any available. I wouldnt even be opposed trading all our draft picks for top 3 pick next year and rolling with Flagg, Dylan Harper or Ace Bailey. We are that young.

So really Stone is doing the right thing standing pat. Rox are still well ahead of schedule and performed so much better than people expected.

the team got 2nd seed as a bunch of 22 yr olds and you think they cant win a title no matter how much they develop? lol. You know players hit their prime and become much better starting at age 25 right?

We are developing players here, not contending for championships

you might wanna look up at the number 1 seed in the west and their MVP canidate. The Thunder haven’t done anything splashy building their team. Caruso is their biggest trade

They did make a trade involving an all star a few years back

Yes, but without red colored glasses, we can all say we don’t have a player anything close to SGA.

Lakers got a lob threat big man/rebounder who can actually make free throws

Lakers propelled past us as a team in the span of just a few days

Rockets will stand pat for the next 5 years waiting for a home run

Phase 2 of the Rockets' rebuild didn’t involve a WIN NOW approach at a major cost. They probably didn’t expect to be this far ahead, but it looks like they are sticking to their plan.

Too bad so many of these players will no longer be available in the offseason or next season.

Sometimes it's the trades teams don't make that makes a difference too

The Rockets reached 2nd seed for half a season with a mostly healthy roster. It remains to be seen if they can stay at #2. They are only 2 games away from dropping to #5 and losing HC in the first round. and 4.5 games away from having to win a play-in game. Neither is a lock at this point.

That being said, I hope we do make a somewhat minor to decent move for a backup PG, even better if they have potential as a future starter. We just aren't desperate to give up valuable future assets for a declining asset that changes our incredible growth

We aren’t looking to make a major move just to compete this year.

Yep, have to make a move because all of the Rockets young players are done developing.

No more internal improvement moving forward because we've clearly hit our ceiling .
