here is an example of the performance under fire of a soldier from one of the members of what john kerry calls "the fradulent coalition:"

"One of his friends was dead, 12 others lay wounded and the four soldiers still left standing were surrounded and out of ammunition," the Associated Press reports from Najaf, Iraq:

So Salvadoran Cpl. Samuel Toloza said a prayer, whipped out his knife and charged the Iraqi gunmen.

In one of the only known instances of hand-to-hand combat in the Iraq conflict, Cpl. Toloza stabbed several attackers swarming around a comrade. The stunned assailants backed away momentarily, just as a relief column came to the unit's rescue.

"We never considered surrender. I was trained to fight until the end," said the 25-year-old corporal, one of 380 soldiers from El Salvador whose heroism is being cited just as other members of the multinational force in Iraq are facing criticism."

Basso, the soldier fought bravely. That has nothing to do with John Kerry, or whether the supposed coalition was fraudulent or not. They are unrelated, and somehow using this soldier's brave deeds in an attempt to smear Kerry is bizarre and seemingly deperate.

No, Forbes Kerry refers to them as a coalition in name only and even calls them "window dressing". It is completely disrespectful to heroes such as the one basso mentioned.

You guys should really consider opening a big man camp to teach folks like Cato how to pivot. Only problem is, you'll have to bring in one of us to teach them how to score.

how is highlighting the contrast between kerry's comments and the soldier's deeds a "smear?" no, 'tis your own defense of kerry that's desparate.

Because Kerry never commented on the bravery of any of the troops involved in Iraq. That was never questioned. If Kerry's comments were in any related to soldier's bravery and deeds on the ground, it would be valid, but Kerry questioned the validity of the coalition itself, not the deeds of anyone serving on the ground in Iraq.

    Hmmm...

And yet these same people currently trumpeting the sacrifice of non-American troops as a reason to not diminish the contrinutions of those nations routinely refer to Afghanistan, Bosnia, and others as examples of the US doing everything while the sniveling Euros, etc. do nothing, in order to justify the US's being able to do what it wants. Additionally, many of these were the same ones who completely bashed the French et al as cowards, etc. at the exact same time that French troops were fighting and dying in Aghanistan.

Sounds almost like a contradiction to me, but what do I know?

Yeah, I know T_J, you declare victory, I'm a rookie, etc. etc.
