Dikembe is probably the only other guy who can even play decent defense on Shaq, barely decent. Yao Ming will have to use his height advantage to do anything defensively against Shaq. Making Shaq run and D on Yao Ming could neutralize Shaq somewhat. But, Shaq will get his, so will Kobe. The key is to outplay the rest of them. Maybe by the season's end the Rockets can accomplish that. I bet Rice would like to torch them... :D

He's probably more afraid of him taking all his press

Shaq is always talking trash in sort of a tongue in cheek manner; most of his comments are geared towards getting laughs as he's basically a big 360 lb. kid. He and barkley are buddies now even though they fought on the court.

As for respecting other centers, why should he? The only one who ever earned it was Hakeem. Everybody else he has basicallly run roughshod over. If Ewing and Robinson were a little less aloof, a la Barkley, or better, a la Hakeem, then maybe he wouldn't hold them in such low regard.

The best part is going to be is when Ming blocks the CRAP out of Shaq and just stares at his fat A$$ :D :D

I think the comparison is unfair to Yao at this point. When Shaq came into the league, he was a man child. He physically dominated people from the beginning, which is similar to what he does now. The difference now is, Shaq has a lil bit more of a mid range game (i.e. the baby jumber and his turn around) also.

Yao wont be able to physically dominate when he gets here like Shaq did. Yao will have to get his off his mid and long range games and well as some of his finesse post moves. Yao wont come in dunking on people. In fact, if you read what some of the knocks were on him, some people dont like the fact that he finger rolls the ball and is content with layups instead of just dunking it.

I think Yao can be physically dominating in a similar, although not comparable, way that Shaq can/is. But I think we need to give him a few years to develop his body and his confidence first before we say Shaq is scared of him or would have problems with him.

For the record, I dont think Shaq is scared of anyone. Most are usually scared of him. :D

Shaq is prolly the funniest guy in the NBA. I like it when he says stuff like that, its good for the game (i think).

Favorite Shaq quote: Remember, I'm the last of the Dinosours (think he meant true centers).

Yall know what the funny thing is? Its almost like you dont want to like Shaq. Similar to how, as a true fan of our team, we always hate the other teams best player because they beat us. I use to hate Shaq mainly cause I was such a big Hakeem fan.

But the guy's zingers and one-liners are always so "on", I find myself likeing him as a player more and more.

I think alot of people dont realize how much charisma Shaq really has.

Well, I think AI's mom is def. the most recognizable mom in the L. If I was AI, I'd be like ma sit down, please!

Anyway, my favorite Shaq quote was when last year in the playoffs he was at a post game conference on ESPN NEWS and Shaq had this to say about his past playoff experiences.
"I've had to deal with Vlade's flopping a**for the last 2 years, I've had to deal with Rasheed, and who can forget, Dennis "fuc*ing" Rodman."- Shaq The whole place erupted. Dan Patrick came back on and said, we apologize for the comments of Big Aristotle. Classic.

Those comments are funny- a little Barklyish but, hell someones got to stir it up. Sammy can only do so much from Milwaukee anyway. Can you even imagine the shiet talking if our current roster won 3 straight? :D

Now you know that's not going to happen!

Yao Ming will just politely say:
"Mr' O'Neal, please do not bring that stuff in here weakly. I will unfortunately be forced to do that again." :D

Sounds like something Mike Tyson would say "Evander, please dont hit me below the belt or I will be forced to obliterate your pancreas"
