I would like to see the numbers on this because I have never heard this claim. Offensive boards prevent defensive boards and give you more possessions which help winning.

You can ask the same about CP3 making the Clippers wait... it's just part of the business.

People are blowing this out of proportion with Dwight because

1.) They're currently under .500, struggling to make the playoffs
2.) He's at odds with Kobe
3.) Has already forced his way out of one city to go to another

Ultimately I really don't think he'll be a Laker past this season unless they make a major trade at the deadline.

He could come to Houston and I would definitely welcome him. He's clearly not completely back to 100% but when he gets there (more than likely after this offseason) he will return to his beastly self and dominate in the post.

Those who claim that he has no post moves are crazy. He worked with Hakeem to refine his post moves the past offseasons for a reason.

A center with absolutely not post moves and that relies on put backs as part of their offense is Asik, whom I have nothing against but it's the simple truth. His offense isn't at the level of Dwight's at least not yet.

    Here you go -

There are a lot of different views on this topic. I think this was the best analysis on the topic because it accounted for more variables.

I guess I'm not convinced. The article states that defensive rebounding is very important to winning. Doesn't offensive rebounding prevent other teams from being good a defensive rebounding? Where is the disconnect?

"The Los Angeles Lakers continue to be adamant in their position of being uninterested in trading Dwight Howard, believing he will re-sign in the offseason.

Mitch Kupchak has been consistent privately when teams have called about Howard as he has been in public.

"They're too arrogant to move him now, even if Dwight asked for it," one rival GM said. "They're the Lakers, and they'll dare you to walk away in July. And if I was them, I would, too."

Kobe Bryant has grown at least publicly indifferent about the situation.

"I don't know what they're going to do," Bryant said Sunday. "At this point, it doesn't matter."

Sources say that Howard now believes winning must be his top priority in making a free agent decision. Howard will consider the path for the Lakers to compete and his decision will be based on best odds of winning more than marketing and geography."

    Let the games begin....

assuming this is howards way of telling LA trade me. Now that I have had a taste for the big market...im not a fan I am more concerned with winning...and what better place to do that then with my boy James "the beard" Harden.

On a side note ....CLUTCH .... I would like to request for a smiley with a beard.

    thanks

That's fair. I think in the end you play to your strengths. If you have Kevin Love you dont get his full value unless you ask him to crash the offensive glass.

He will join the Heat. Everyone there right now will adjust their salary to accommodate him. The team will win championships for the next decade.

People who don't want dwight just don't understand. All the grumbling about lins average defense and hardens lack of effort is almost irrelevant bc howard would wipe out all the mistakes.

On offense, pnr becomes the goto opption in the half court.

I don't love howard but he is the perfect fit for our team.

Asik is a top defensive center.

I'm pretty sure they can't. Under the new CBA a team that is over the cap, like LA, can't do a sign and trade.

As many mistakes as Dwight can help erase on help defense at the rim, he's not going to completely change this team into a top 10 defense overnight. The Lakers this year, are still far away from being a top tier defense even with the veteran team that they do have.

However in the past when Howard was playing at a high level for Orlando, he gave that extra effort that Houston would be acquiring him hoping he would get back to, but I still wouldn't count on him solving all of their defensive issues overnight... especially in the weak mental state that Dwight is in now, that hopefully he will snap in due time(if he became a Rocket).

Bima thug talked about this on the recent Rocketscast he joined in on. I would encourage you to look it up and give it another listen. Yes its possible, but highly unlikely since it really wouldn't matter because the Rockets would still be prohibited from giving Dwight that extra guaranteed year and 30 million... so there really isn't a point in this case in offering it.

Bingo. No reason to do a S&T to obtain Dwight.

sooooo.... we trade for josh smith or milsap....and then sign howard in the off season...is there some sort of provision that lets us then offer a contract to our own free agent to retain them (smith/milsap) Or if we sign howard we have to forfeit the rights to resign one of those guys?

Just curious...cause it might be wiser to stand pat...make offer to howard in the offseason then do a sign and trade for smith or milsap
