Melo would likely be a Net right now had NY waited.

Howard has grown to believe that winning has to be the premium priority of his free-agent decision, sources say. He promises to take a long look this summer – study the Lakers' present and future against those options available to him in free agency, including sign-and-trades – and make a choice weighed less in marketing potential and geography, and more in proper personnel for sustainable success.

Apparently it's trash Dwight Howard day. Was it the 3 pointer he shot? Was it laughing on the bench with Griffin? Something I missed?

If Morey can somehow snag Howard in the offseason and trade Asik for a legit PF this team becomes a legit championship contender.

Defensive rebounding is considered as a form of defense. If you get out rebounded, chances are, you will lose the game. Plus he's one of the league's best offensive rebounders. Just imagine all those 2nd chance points.

But there won't be an opprotunity to get those rebounds if there's no defense.

Give me a power forward that can stretch the floor and gets you 13-15 rebounds night in and night out. Kevin Love averaged 26ppg/13rpg last season and 20ppg/15rpg the season before that. 15 rebounds.. a GAME! As much as i love Aldridge's game, the guy can't even average 9 rebounds per game in a season.

Oh stop it. We're asking for a complete player that doesn't exist in this league. ;)

Only Hakeem Olajuwon fits the bill.

That's where James Harden's recruiting power comes in.

As far as i know, Harden's top 4 NBA buddies are CP3, Durant, Westbrook, and Love.

Those 2nd chance points have no correlation with helping the team because the great offensive rebounders generally don't get back in transition which hurts the team. Analytically, offensive rebounding has about a neutral effect on helping the team.

That's why Garnett and Duncan have such low offensive rebounding numbers. The team emphasizes getting back in transition. So even though they are really good rebounders (Duncan especially), the numbers don't show it because of the very low offensive rebounding totals.

Also, a weak big man defender is much harder to account for than a weak perimeter defender.

That's essentially why teams rely on their guards and wings to be the first ones on transition defense while your bigs are battling down low for those boards on defense and on offense. At least one of em.
