    thanks for the encouragement man.

I've never realized how much responsibility one has when they take on a role similar to this. It's like every little screwup could potentially affect how much they'll listen to you. The pressure from myself to not screw up is higher than any other pressure I've felt before.

Did I ever tell you guys about my stint as a referee in Church League basketball? This hotshot kid on the team kept arguing with me over fouls so finally I threw him out. At the end of the game the kid runs over an jumps on me and knocks me down. The coach aka: The Youth Minister at the church comes running over, I think to pull his goober offame, but no, the Youth Minister starts kicking me in the face!

    good times!

I need to apologize for my behavior but the same fouls you were calling on me, you weren't calling on the other team when they did it to me. The coach acted inapproriately, but he had been listening to Falwell, and others that the article mentioned, and felt God would approve of a pre-emptive strike.
    :p

Actually that is really a bad thing, and I can't believe those folks would do that. Were there any repercussions against them? Were they kicked out of the league?

This sounds way too much like pro-athletes who say that God is on their side. I can't imagine that God cares that much whether the Steelers or the Seahawks win the Superbowl.

Or God may not smile on Seattle since it rains there all the time and is home to the greatest evil that Mankind has brought forth upon God's green Earth.

I didn't expect this thread could be so much fun. Really enjoyed it. Honestly, didn't know about hotballa' service in the church. Great job! In fact, I have to agree with more and more things he said on the bbs for the past few months, which totally changed my view of his position. I admit I was absolutely biased, due to his "attack" on us Shanghainese quite long ago :D

bleh well no need ot make a big deal of it. :D

    back to topic.

This polarization environment created and the falmes of which are fanned by the Whte House is the single greatest danger to Christianity in my lifetime. I sincerely feel that way. I am just not comfortable with the idea that we had to be conned, lied to, and cajoled into this so called holy war through deceit and blatant disregard for the truth. Christians who believe that this is a holy war need to stop lying to themselves, Christ would NEVER find it necessary to mislead us into a holy war.

Would Christ approve of a holy war, or is it merely something that Christians believe is inevitable and will come to pass? I know about the four horsemen of apocalypse and all that, but is that why so many Evangelicals are ardent supporters of Israel?

I have to confess, the Book of Revelation (or The Apocalypse of John if you prefer) is something I have been obsessed with for a while now (mostly, thanks to Jack Van Impe :D )

The book of Revelation was a dream. The author of the book says himself that it was a dream. So it is hard to beleive it to be 100% literal.

Definetely He would approve of it. I certainly believe it's inevitable (whether in my lifetime or not, I can't say. there's always a feeling of impending doom, but I believe most humans are born with that feeling anyway), and I whleheartedly do not believe he would need to lie and hide behind false pretenses to get it rolling.

I am an ardent supporter of Israel because God favored them for a reason and they were the first to be chosen. Many times in the Bible, God tells the younger to respect the elder despite differences nor what the elder has done. He made a covenant with the Jews and I havent heard any word that he broke it recently :D

The author actually did not say that. I was wrong. I misread something from a bible study in which that was theorized. I apologize.

But wait, wasnt the covenant with Abraham? Aren't the Arabs and the Jews both the descendants of Abraham?

I think it was a covenant with Abraham that Isaac's descendants would populate Israel. God seperately promised that Ishmael's descendants would also found a nation but I believe Israel was specified to deal with Isaac's descendants.

Either way, I'm not quite sure why this is relevant.
