Seems like you fail at remembering things from 2-3 years ago. Brandon Roy's final season before injury: 21.5ppg/4.4rpg/4.7apg/TS%56.8(37mpg) Kyle Lowry this year: 14.3ppg/4.6rpg/6.6apg/TS%55.8(32mpg) The OP's proposed trade would then add Kevin Martin(19ppg on 55 TS% in the worst season recently) and pick 14 and pick 16. The fact that you think such a trade is a no-brainer for the Rockets is what's truly FAIL.
listen i know we aren't that good.. but why is it we ALWAYS have to trade 3 of our starters for 1 guy in EVERY trade idea?? KMart is a proven 20ppg NBA scorer, Lowry is a top flight NBA PG and Scola is a good veteran PF.. so again why is it we have to give up everything for 1 guy? Don't undervalue our 3 most tradeable guys.. We could 2 for 1 with Lowry and Kmart.. we need to split these guys up in separate trades and not all together for 1 guy..
Stats don't get you any where. Roy was a game changer. And the fail is the fact you wouldn't trade Lowry and Martin for a healthy Roy. Watch basketball instead of naming off stats. I think Turners potential is through the roof. I was more so saying I think he will be worth that much. He could probably be had for Kmart or Lowry and both those crappy draft picks. It sure would be nice to have a guy who could create his own shot and close games. Kevin Martin's flail attempts and Lowrys 30 foot 3's can only do so much. What we have is a Toronto Raptors situation with Mike James who averaged 20 ppg in a season. Our players are overrated by the fans. Your just a homer and the fact you value Lowry and Martin so highly to the point you wouldn't take BROY in his prime shows your basketball knowledge is absolutely horrendous. The Rockets can afford to trade assets away at the risk of losing out and trading for a busted player. Turner has BROY potential(borderline superstar). I watch Philly play and what holds him back has mostly to do with his teammates. I don't know about you. I'd rather be horrible or in the playoffs. Not some mediocre team who gets mid 1st round draft picks. Hello Indiana Pacers. They experienced what were going through now. Daryl Morey has done what come draft time? Draft two players in the second round with a limited celing(Parsons,Budinger). He busted all over Morris. And will do it again this year.
Undervalue? Martin's defensive liabilities make him a liability on the court for the fact he can do nothing when his shot isn't falling. Same goes for Scola as well. They are one dimensional players. Lowry has improved, but he can not create his own shot off the dribble. His role on a quality team is a spot up 3 point shooter(starter) or leader of the bench brigade. I wouldn't trade all three for someone like Turner. But with the assurance of Dragic coming back and the opportunity to get Turner in return for a Lowry/Martin trade, you do it immediately. We have to improve. Addition by subtraction.
oh ok so the fact that he averages 17-20ppg isn't value?? Jason Terry doesn't do anything but score? and i promise you every team in the NBA is gonna be beating his door in this summer wanting his services.. A LOT of teams will take kmart in a heartbeat.. you think every SG in the league is averaging 17-20 a night and paying lock down defense? not every guy is a complete package player. so when people say it would take Kmart and lowry plus fillers to get us 1 starter is ridiculous.. you think Courtney Lee is a complete player? no, he plays better defense than kmart but he is just as much as a liability offensively as kmart is defensively.. he disappears all the time on the offensive end.. Lee is a backup. I think Kmart could be another JET if he would just accept the role..
btw, do u know how many "one" demensional players there are in the NBA? TONS.. not everyone is LeBron and Kobe and dwade.. i guess dirk is one demensional since he isn't a defensive genius huh? he is a prolific scorer.. not a defender.. we could get good value for lowry, kmart and scola.. u watch.. Morey knows they have NBA cred and he will get us some good stuff for them..
This quote is from the McHale interview conducted today in McAllen, Tx http://www.themonitor.com/articles/-60571--.html "Q: What are some of the key personnel issues you need to address in the offseason? A: We have to get more playmakers on the perimeter. Too much playmaking was left to Goran (Dragic) or Kyle (Lowry). We have to get more athletic up front. We have to get some more guys who can play above the rim, block shots and be able to run and move with some of the more athletic teams. … We need to play more of an up and down game, which at times, hurt us. We’ve got to get the guys we have better. That’s the least sexy of ways of getting better, but it’s the most sure. In free agency, there’s no assurance you are going to get the guys you want and the draft is such an inexact science, it’s ridiculous." I think this supports the case I was making for an Evan Turner type of player.
Well, Roy was never able to change the stats enough where his team came out on the winning end of a playoff series. You can keep your "game changing" intangibles and I'll look at players that can actually take us beyond the 1st round. I'm not exactly going to give up half my team just to get a player that with a talented surrounding cast, is going to help us get our asses kicked in the playoffs.
The players we have can't even get us in the playoffs. Does Just Turner get us there right now? Not even close. This is assuming our cap allows us to pick up a great player as well. We need to get rid of Kyle and Kevin because they are expendable now.
Roy was only healthy for 1 playoff series, and it was against us. Was dropping 42 points on us with Battier and Artest taking turns guarding him not game changing enough.
