I think Lavine is a reasonable high end outcome for Jalen Green. Mobley could be better and more valuable than a Zach Lavine, but he has more question marks or what-ifs.
Stay away from this guy. High potential for his name to be a meme maker. "Even Mobley can make that layup." "Even Mobley can get that rebound" "Even Mobley can catch that pass." "Even Mobley can fit through that crack."
I think that’s a bit the point. Horford is very, very good. 5 time all star is an objectively great outcome at any pick. He’s also by no means anyone’s first, and probably not 2nd best player on a championship team. We probably don’t have one of those on the roster today - so do you bet on a guy with a higher variance outcome, with a higher likelihood to be that guy (but also could realistically be Jamal Crawford… or worse).
I’ve said this many times on multiple message boards… never realized using the first 3 letters of my last name would set me up for this joke so much lol.
They all are multiple time all stars and have been very integral to winning at a high level, what's your point? How about we talk about the variances with Green? Lavine or Wade and Kobe?
I worry a bit about how much the game has changed - even truly elite paint defenders can be totally neutered (see Gobert… every year in the playoffs at this point). Perhaps that’s where Mobley’s “unicorn-ness” comes into play - he’s potentially an elite level rim protector and plus perimeter defender on switches if necessary. Bud that’s effectively what you would need to buy into — can he be Gobert (or at least Capela) on the interior, and Durant or Kirilenko on the perimeter?
That's the question I keep asking? Why does Green he have a higher likelihood of being that guy? What does Green do that makes him that guy? Take a look at B Macs profile and tell me why Green is so much different, not saying he is B Mac but everybody thought he was that guy. Crawford is also a great comp except he had a much better handle.
Benny Mac couldn't put the ball on the floor to save his life. Otherwise, that is another good "bad" outcome possibility. Higher likelihood is a matter of perspective -- if you see Mobley's jumper as a tool that can become a weapon, then it probably changes your outlook. It also comes down to the way the league has moved -- how many big guys are truly game changers right now? Embiid, Jokic, AD... and that may be it (I know you could argue Giannis is a big). Guys like Vucevic, D Sabonis and even Zion too maybe? I think Green has the athleticism that jumps off the screen and a nice looking jump shot that is showing results, but he also seemed to show some pretty impressive finishing skills (not just dunks), and flashed the footwork to make moves and create shots. Honest question that I don't know how I would answer -- in today's NBA, would you rather draft Al Horford or Zach Lavine?
He has elite athleticism and is clearly going to be a high scorer. His FTR is abysmal so he’ll need to learn how to draw fouls. If he does that though, he’ll be one of the best offensive players in the league for a long time. Al Horford is probably the best comp for Mobley I’ve heard so far; that’s a good call.
If DeAndre Ayton is the comp for Mobley I'm actually ok with that. I think he will have better perimeter skills than Ayton but I'll take a guy that can average 16 & 10 shooting 60% while improving the team defense. And that's his floor if he adds nothing to his game or physique? I'll take that.
But AD and Bosh are markedly better. Lol. The comparisons actually used by evaluators are Lavine and Beal.
Yeah if my other option is only Zach Levine like you said… You said either Levine or Horford at #2 and I’m taking Horford easy
