I'm not a Sooner fan by any means, but I always pulled for Hollis Price. I met him just after his last year with OU. He is a very nice guy. He was just too little for a 2 in the NBA.

Man, I SO didn't miss DD's VSpan love. And when a 3 is one of your TOP 10 PLAYS OF THE WEEK, I'm SO glad I don't watch Euroleague.
    VSpan sucks,

It is tough this year Blath, I mean, I have no JVG to hate on, No VSpan to cry over and a team winning 22 in a row.

Just makes posting life so challenging...you know?

Does not suck. Euroleague is hard man....Anthony Goldwire is a wily veteran opponent. Spanoulis' 0.97 assist to turnover ratio is misleading because the competition is very very stiff

Actually, turnovers over there are the same, whereas assists are calculated differently.

He would have a much better assist to turnover ratio if they were as liberal about rewarding assists as the NBA is...

3 turnovers in 25 minutes. For all of 11 points and 2.7 assists. I bet under the more liberal NBA assist rules - he'd have all of 3.7 assists to match his Euroleague state. Of course, with much better NBA defenses, his turnovers would be about 5-6.

Turnover prone, can't shoot, bad at defense, slow and unathletic = NBA failure = Euroleague superstardom.

Hey, even the Rockets are running some zone, have you been watching? I noticed that you are posting a lot less now that your man is on TV instead of roaming the sidelines.

Oh, our little friend needs more than just SOME zone.....have you not been watching Euroleauge this year?

Anyway since you are so attentive can you tell me how much zone the rockets play - I'm guessing it's about 5-7% of the time.

Yes, they have not been playing very much at all, but they do mix it in occassionally which is a welcome switch up.

No one wants to play too much zone in the NBA but as a change of pace it is nice to see them doing it.

And no, I have not been watching the Euro league, no access.....but I do appreciate some of their players.

"More NBA ready than Sam Cassell" vs. Aaron Brooks (who has been ok but played himself out of the rotation this year)

    Spanoulis Stats per 36 min: 11.2 pts .319 FG .172 3PT 3.7 APG 3.9 TO 4.4 PF 5.4 PER

    A. Brooks Stats per 36 min: 14.8 pts .393 FG .308 3PT 5.0 APG 2.7 TO 3.9 PF 11.2 PER

I don't think you ever truly comprehended how bad Spanouis was last year - this really puts it in perspective. Brooks has been mediocre at best, showing some flashes but really looking like a rookie a lot of the time. 5.4 PER is really so very bad, it's not an NBA level number where the hypothetical average player is supposed to be at 15.0. I mean Brooks has literally been twice the player Spanoulis was. No knock on Brooks - but the T-mac of Greece just looks worse and worse every day.

He certainly struggled in very limited minutes, and playing out of position, but then I guess anyone would when they are asked to be something they aren't.

I think it was round peg, square hole.....

JVG wanted him to stand in the corner and shoot 3s.....that was very bad for his game...

And AB is playing fairly well lately and is back in the rotation.

The square hole was that NBA level talent was required - talent that he didn't have either physically and obviously mentally. He was quite possibly the biggest b**** to ever put on the red and silver.

Strangely in the game I saw him play last month he had no trouble standing around and taking outside shots without being mentally flustered. At least less trouble with that then he had trying to guard Anthony Goldwire.

I guess he had a coach that didn't over react and yank him out if he made a small mistake.

Glad he is doing well....hope he comes back.

No, it's just easier to cover up for mistakes when you're in the minor leagues and not having to go up against NBA level talent. This is why a guy like Jasikevicus is a star in Europe but in the NBA he was a complete bust - just not quite good enough to get his shot off or cover NBA players. It's the same with Spanoulis - he just wasn't good enough.
