he got hurt during the summer and he resigned with his euro-team so the rockets decided to wait another season before signing an injured player.

Well, I'm from EU and know sth about this guy from watching him play. First of all, he's not a true PG, heck he's not even PG. He wants the ball to create his drives which he is somehow good at. But too me, he seems very selfish and demanding. He doesn't move without the ball, he just wants it.

He didn't get much playing time in Euro 2005. I think that there is much more material then him in Europe..

I think that he also was concerned about getting enough playing time because of the number of guards that we had under contract at the beginning of the year. If he thinks that he can be in the top 3 rockets guards, I think he'll come over.

Since the mods opinions usually hold true (more or less) I want to know what they think about Spanioulous and his chances of being here next year. Is he good enough? Is he what we need? Are we willing to jettison someone we have like a Wesley to accomidate him? Where would he land in this years draft? What kind of prospect would he be?

It's boring reading opinions from posters who know as much as I do and stating it as fact. It's like reading the Badaine threads...

I have seen this guy play a couple of times this year. I feel this guy is a jumper away from being an all-star caliber point guard in the NBA. Were this guy will excel is in a pick and roll situation. His ability to change direction at the blink of an eye will destroy bigs that switch in a pick and roll. His quickness is only part of the reason he is so effective. When he gets by his defender, he takes two long strides towards the basket, ala Manu Ginobli, Which gives him enough separation to finish with a lay-up. Remember how people routinely throw their bodies into Yao Ming to try and get And-One situations. V Span does the same thing against anybody that is standing near the basket. He gets to the free throw line at will sometimes.

I just feel V Span will be a star in the NBA. Down the stretch he just takes over games against very good talent in Euro League. I think the rockets should bring this guy over at any cost because he is ready to help this team win next season.
