https://www.fiba.basketball/eurobasket/2022 - September 1-18, 2022 Right now the international friendlies are going on and can't wait to see how Alperen and Garuba do. Since it'll be starting next month, I wanted to start it off with the friendly matchup that was after the Turkey debacle today.....Serbia vs. Greece. This was an insane shot by Jovic in Giannis's face:
In for Belgium Not to win it all (nr. 37 on FIBA rankings), but hopefully we can surprise some teams. The team has good chemistry, has a great coach and recently had some nice wins against Serbia in European Qualifiers. Yesterday an easy win against Great-Britain. Looking forward to the match vs. Turkey and Sengun!
I still remember the thrashing Belgium gave us Lithuanians a couple years ago! I think you definitely have a chance to surprise people in your group, especially now that Shengelia has a broken shoulder.
The baby would have won a world championship by now, just saying. Joker is fine and all, just lacks the right amount of killing instinct.
I wouldn't write off France (Fournier, Gobert) or Greece (Giannis) either. France is especially stacked at every position with strong NBA and Euroleague players. Deeper roster than probably any team in the Eurobasket (only Serbia can somewhat compete with them when it comes to depth). One thing going for Turkey though, they got a really easy group (as opposed to Group B which is the group of death in this tourney). Spain is just a shell of their former selves at this point (many notable players either retired or missing the tournament aka Rubio, Mirotic, Ibaka etc). Sengun and Co need to capitalize and take that first place in their group, no excuses. Then they have a legit shot at going far in this tournament.
I'm rooting for future Rockets legend Llull, I believe we still have our MLE... maybe this is the year?
Canada = Northern American Continent Argentina = Sourthern American Continent Congo = Africa Non of them are in Europe, thus have nothing to do with this thread.
i’m not very optimistic on my French team. We have good players at many position but with De Colo out we lack a true scoring threat. Fournier is up and down and Okobo is still young for that role. Yasubele is a good compliment to Gobert and Luwawu is a great glue guy though.
Watching Sengun right now...He's playing ok but not getting enough touches IMO. Rooting for Montenegro though
