    More chessplaying....

This is just a light slap from the EU to show that they "mean business" and won't be tread over during negotiations. EU was supposed to handle Iran and make US look bad.

Meanwhile, everyone knows that Iran has the China and Russia vote locked in any Sec Council vote.

Russia relented apparently, they said they wouldn't veto a resolution to bring sanctions against Tehran.

Nothing wrong with California Chardonnay :). Although California is just above France in my book.

I heard the same on BBC news. And China apparently will go along with the rest if they all agree.

That's good news. Now we'll have to see if the rulers of Iran care what the UN does.

Great the Security Council issues sanctions, Iran stops selling oil to us, the price of a barrell of crude goes way past $64 to $85 or $90 and I get screwed at the pump.

    Thanks.

I think the US government prohibited oil sales from Iran to the US.

I think the idea is that they aren't allowed to sell oil to anyone. Why bother with any other embargo? Are we going to starve the Iranian people because their rulers are madmen?

Same result... oil prices shoot way up. Better than Iran having nukes, imo, assuming that works. It may not.

Let me guess. The security council is going to issue a "strongly worded statement" "condemning" Iran's violation of UN restrictions. And then they're going to try more diplomacy. (Either that or expect the US to do something.)

I'm just waiting for the Israeli airstrike, and then things finally get interesting.

It took around 17 resolutions before Saddam let inspectors in....

Nonetheless, I'm encouraged by Russia and China's signal. Could it be that the UN is working in spite of the US and not because of it...

It doesn't have to be true...just has to look it on the surface.
