I'm an avid StarCraft 2 fan, and I follow it as an eSport (international, competitive play). Some of the prize pools are huge (victor getting $30,000 or up to $85,000 sometimes). It's serious business these days. Other games like Street Fighter and League of Legends are beginning to make large splashes in eSports as well. That's why I found it cool that Daryl Morey, the GM of my favorite basketball team (obviously), was interested in the eSports panel at Sloan this weekend: First Tweet: https://twitter.com/#!/dmorey/status/167663619608285185 And again later: https://twitter.com/#!/dmorey/status/174956486936629248 So they had their panel, and then I see this: https://twitter.com/#!/Slasher/status/176021716483579904 I wonder what Morey's intrigue about eSports is? As a GM of a conventional, national sports team, I'm interested to know why he thinks this. Anyone else follow some eSports? What do you think about Morey's interest? Dork Elvis just being a dork? Edit: I tweeted this to Morey: https://twitter.com/#!/tschmal/status/176061492628684802 He actually replied quite quickly via DM: "Fan of gaming and I think its growth will be huge." Not too elaborate, but good to know he's a fan!
don't know if anyone has posted this in another thread and Murray shows up in the League of Legends episode of the new Netflix series 7 Days Out https://www.netflix.com/title/80207124
I am moar interested in the other events and fields. '3 sports of the future - Soccer, Bball and E-sports.' Dmori
Morey is busy playing nintendos when he should be practicing his spreadsheets. This is why we struggle.
