Essentially, he was the 15th pick. And for cap purposes, he was the 15th pick. They got Collier, and another first rounder for Joel Pryzbille. Do not forget that.

If we make any offseason move trade wise, that first rounder will probably be a big part of it.

And if not, then the player we draft will probably be better than Collier or Pryzbilla, as this draft is so much deeper than last years draft its insane.

Essentially Collier and whoever we draft with the 22nd pick this year is the 9th pick. With this deep draft, it looks like #22 might actually have some value too.

Instead of filling up one hole with Magloire, the Rockets can fill up two holes with Collier and whoever they draft. Like it or not, Jason Collier has shown alot of promise at being a solid backup C for this team. He was injured most of the season, you guys need to give him time and quit hating on him because we don't have Magloire and his 5 points and 4 rebounds per game.

I'm willing to bet Collier and whoever we draft at 22 will produce better than 5 and 4 a game. We might even use the 22nd pick to move up in the draft. Maybe if we didn't have that pick we couldn't move up, so would you guys still think it was a bad draft if the trade involving Collier might actually help us net a Battier?

We could have had the 22d pick this year and either Turkoglu, Mason, Richardson, Magloire, Mo Peterson, Harvey, Stevenson, Tsakalidis, or Barkley. Any of those would have been better than Collier and the 22d.

Collier was a waste of a pick. Pryz will be a much better player than Collier.
But it was a good trade since we picked up another #1.
I also haven't saw him play, but a 7'1 sf is enticing. I don't know for sure but I would rather take a proven player in Europe than a HS project, who may take 3-4 years to be ready to play.

out of those the only player i wish we could have had instead of Collie is Magloire. Yeah, the other players are good too, but most of them are guards, and at the time, Mobes was a FA, and there were rumors that he didn't want the rocks to draft another guard. Regardless of any "rumors" certaily the Rockets did not want to send Mobes the wrong message. At the time he was still a backup and SA was the starting sg. ALso everyone(and I use that everyone loosely) thought Wiz was going to be a starting sf.

and of course we didn't need another pg, Rocks desperately needed size, considering Hakeem's questionable health at the time and Cato being on the trading block even then.

Like I said, I would have liked to had Magloire instead, but you know what they say about hindsight.

I'm not willing to write Collier off as a bad pick like some of you. He /may/ end up sucking, but when he played, he was not bad at all. Injuries really hurt him -- he started well, but after returning from injury wasn't 100%, and wasn't that great. But he played hard, and hustled, and certainly was better than Przybilla.

    Stats:

    Collier: 23 Games | 9.6 MPG | 1.61 RPG | 3.09 PPG
    Przybilla: 33 Games | 8.2 MPG | 2.2 RPG | 0.8 PPG

When he was healthy early on, he was regularly getting 8 to 12 PPG and 4 RPG in 14 mins or so.

Haywood at #13? Yeah Right! Haywood may end up being a slightly improved version of Cato when it is all said and done.

Rodney White at #18? I am just taking a stab at this, but I don't think White is going to be available this late in the first round. Not to mention, they have Joe Johnson going #20 to Portland? Who is responsible for this mock?

Ousmane Cisse at #22? Don't know much about him, but the name scares me a little.

Gotta agree. I'm hoping Krause takes him at 4...or trades down to 6 with VC and grabs him...

In a draft this deep and to come away with those three picks would really suck! Pau Gasol would be a risky pick but may understanable.

As much as I hate to admit, Rudy does seem to have a funny way about doing things come draft day.

Gasol's the only one of those picks I wouldn't mind. Yes, he's a gamble, but he's very young, and evidently he's being scouted pretty highly. Is there any chance he'll attend the draft camps?

Lil Francis and ricky: Since you've never seen the guy play, don't be that harsh. I'd wager the Rockets have seen more tape of him than you. If you'd rather not risk it, fine, but to dismiss the guy so easily is a mistake, imo. As for 2/3 foreign players not working out... I don't know if that's correct, but even if it was that wouldn't be such a bad ratio for hte middle of the first round.

Alvin Jones and Kendrick Brown remind me of most lower-first round big men - probably worthless. Although, admittedly, I've only seen Jones sparingly and Brown not at all.

Has anyone here seen Brown play? Did he just absolutely dominate on hte JC level? Or would he be a complete project?

I wasn't being harsh. I would just rather the Rockets try to trade the picks in the top 5 so we will have a shot at Griffin.

We understand your enthusiams [even though
I don't think any top 5 team would deal with
us for much less than francis or mobley or
    something of great importance]

I think trading up will cost too much
Please just be open to alternative plans
If you senario failed and we cannot move up
what would you do lil francis [beside kill

Brown is said to have a good 3 point stroke and a 40 inch vertical. Apparently he is a JC player that was supposed to go to LSU.

I was listening to 610 at 2 pm with Matt Jackson today and he was talking about Gasol. He said the Rockets have a few scouts in Spain checking him out and they love the kid. The only problem is he won't be in the league for another season because of his contract. I don't see the Rockets getting him with the 13th pick, but I do see him dropping down to the 18th pick and I wouldn't mind us picking him up with that pick. I know Rockets fans are thinking Turkan, but I've heard more about Gasol pre-draft then I ever did about Mirsad so obviously Gasol has some promise.

I hope we do pick him up with 1 of the picks, just not the lottery pick...

I dont mind if we take this guy as long as he freaking plays next year. if he cant get out of his contract and we have to wait three years then that would be a problem.

I doubt the Kedrick Brown, simply cause a Juco player doesn't seem like Rudy's style. At that slot, based on their draft results, I'd see us taking Prince.

I doubt any of us has seen Gasol, but everything I've read has him the ideal player for the zone-great shot and height, and the ability to block shots.

Just because he doesn't win dunk contests doesn't mean he's not a good player, and that would be a very solid roleplayer draft.
