Actually, I think this is all a big misunderstanding.

I think she meant that she wanted to "**** Jesus", just like any good Christian woman should.

Where did I say anything about the effect any of it has on any people's lives? That's besides the point. Replace Noter Dame, Jesus with whatever. Whatever you replace it with, in all cases, she'd be saying something that would offend a group of people. The degree to which it is offensive is up to each person, and besides the point. It's offensive.

I think you're failing to grasp that there are millions of people out there that don't care about Notre Dame or Jesus.

My point or question is only, as an outsider, who is one of those people who could care less, why should she be "reprimanded" because of what she said about Jesus and not also what she said about Notre Dame, or anything else.

Again, as an outsider, if she said "F*** Frank Billybollywolly and F*** Jesus", why shouldn't Frank Billybollywolly be equally as pissed, even if he's just one guy, or not a Christian.

I just find the current environment of "be careful, you don't want to offend this group or that group" to be a little strange. how about, try not to be offensive in general?

your basic point is that there is no diff between saying eff Notre Dame or Jesus other than different people being offended. That is simply not true. I showed you why it's different and why people won't care as much if she said eff Notre Dame vs saying that about Jesus. if someone said eff the Church, I really wouldn't care as much as if someone said the same about Jesus.

Well, my belief, as someone not offended by anything she said, is that just because one group is getting more upset about it then the other, doesn't make it more offensive.

But, maybe it's own of those things where you have to be part of the offended group to understand.

My personal view is that her opinion on Notre Dame and Jesus has nothing to do with her capabilities as a sports reporter, despite the fact that she was offensive to both.

i understand where you're coming from. i just don't get that riled up if someone says eff a man made structure (Notre Dame).

my view about her capabilities is the same as before, none. I dunno who she is :D

Of course there's a double standard.
A man saying **** Jesus is sinfully gay, while a woman ****ing Jesus would be totally acceptable and possibly hot....

Are you for real? You really don't get this?

The people who are offended because she said F*** the man they believe to be the son of God and their personal savior. That's a big deal. It is a far bigger deal than a college or institution.

It's pretty darned sad if you can't wrap your hands around the difference.
