Yup! I tell ya, Nash, Okur, Foyle, Daniels, this FA so far is starting out with teams throwing A LOT of coin at these players. And here there was talk of it being a Buyers Market?...whatever. Teams are throwing everything at these players. I guess GMs never learn!

I will say that you can't judge Foyle by his stats last season. He started out injured and because Dampier came on so strong, when Foyle came back, he didn't get the mins he did in seasons past (in the past, they normally split the C mins).

Past seasons suggest that he might be able to pull off somewhear near 10 pts, 8 rebs and 3 blocks in 30 + mins. He has no range and is a terrible shooter.

This has Kelvin Cato written all over it. :)

Nah, it's just the MLE with an annual rise of 15%.

The annual raise cap is 12.5% unless im mistaken. If the MLE ends up being around 5.2 (which is the rumor), then thats only $33 MIL.

Hes getting more than the MLE. No doubt.

Given that he chose Colgate over Duke, you do have to consider him a success story tho'.

According to ESPN.com, the contract is 5 years, 41.6 MIL, starting at $6.5 MIL next season.

The 6th year option is for $10 MIL at the team's discretion.

I knew Golden State was an inept organization, but that is one of the worst contracts relative to player value I have EVER heard. I seriously don't think he could have got half that from any other team, wonder what kind of dirt he has on the boss's daughter.

I think there were teams willing to give Foyle the entire MLE. Talk was Orlando was going to do that. Therefore Orlando had to start above the 5.2 MLE and they went with a starting salary of 6.5.

I really feel that Foyle isnt worth this. It was mentioned above that this looks a lot like Cato and I would have to agree.

This is a prime example of how "bigs" are always overvalued in the NBA. Why their contracts are always the worst values. I would rather try to get a Brian Skinner for around 3-4M per year than to try to get Foyle for 6.5M.

The Folye, Nash, Okur, Daniels etc signings make you really appreciate the contract the Rockets are offering Brent Barry. 4yr/24M isnt too bad considering those other deals.

The real kicker to me is not necessarily the money but the YEARS on the deals. Going over 4 years really is risky. Chances are those GMs will have buyers remorse on years 4,5,6 of those deals.

And 6 months from now, Golden State will be desperate to get rid of this deadweight $41.6 million contract.

i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that 6th year option is never exercised.

judging by this contract, the warriors may have felt like the max was underpaying for dampier.

What an absolute embarrassment. How can one become an NBA GM? $40million for Adonal freaking Foyle??!?!? Are you kidding me? This guy is the epitome of garbage. He's the only player in the NBA who's worse offensively than Kelvin Cato. Mehmet freaking Okur at $50million or whatever joke of an amount he got!?!?!? Steve Nash at $13million until he's 36??? What the hell is going on? Why don't these teams ever learn?

For the FAs this offseason, it's good to be them. Teams are just shoveling money towards them.

Ya know, it makes one think that perhaps it isnt a good idea to have a lot of money under the cap. Because for the large majority of these teams they wont be fiscally responsible with that excess money. If they have the money they will spend it, no matter what the quality of the player.

Perhaps it is better to be capped out with solid contracts. That way a team is can only spend up to the MLE.
