Not a surprise. Chicago has a lot of sports teams. Not counting colleges in the area. And their fanbase is much more spread out, goes back more generations, etc. My wife and her family in Indiana are big Bears fans. * Bears: Chicago Bears National Football League team * Bulls: Chicago Bulls National Basketball Association team * Cubs: Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball team * Sox: Chicago White Sox Major League Baseball team * Blackhawks: Chicago Blackhawks National Hockey League team * Fire: Chicago Fire Major League Soccer team * Rush: Chicago Rush Arena Football League team * Sky: Chicago Sky Women's National Basketball Association * Storm: Chicago Storm Major Indoor Soccer League * Wolves: Chicago Wolves American Hockey League team Houston, on the other hand, has far less. Addressing the Dallas comment- I live there now, and while I don't follow the teams, listening to sports radio up here tells me that the fans are much less bandwagonish than Houston fans. Cowboys are almost a religion here, where the Texans have more of a touristy attraction for most people, myself included. I will always root for my hometown, but the Texans haven't given me anything to love yet, which I think most people will agree with. And there are more sports teams in Dallas, too.
