Bill walton, tim leghler, greg anthony.........

basically started off about what Yao can do to improve his game, mainly passing, then they never mention Yao again and just go through all these dumb plays with leghler and anthony running around like idiots...
bill then goes on to say how the teamates need to be moving and read the passer's minds. bill also goes to say throw your elbows into the double team occasionally, haha.

According to the experts at ESPN2, the biggest weakness in Yao's game is ... passing?

Well, Bill walton mainly was saying how that is one part of his game that he could really improve. From my point of view, ppl in clutchfans overrate Yao's passing a little, and those outside of Htown overrate Yao;s passing ALOT

they didnt say passing is his weakness, just underutilized.........and I agree 100%, I'm tired of seeing 1 Assist 3 TO nights from Yao, when I know he could do sooo much better! Van Gundy has gotten him to be a banger. Next task: get his assists up

in terms of being a willing passer and knowing how to throw many different passes, yao is a great passer (like his hand offs to people going basline or hitting cutters). however, in terms of throwing passes out of double teams, he's quite poor (like finding the open man at the 3 point line or not getting stripped while looking). so it depends what you are talking about when you say "passing." in one sense he's good, in another not.

Well, the whole segemnt was to be about how Yao can improve his game but then they started to give a mini-tutorial on how to play basketball. Anyway, I think the thing Yao can improve on is his jumpshot. The shot is obviously already good for a big man, but sometimes it seems unstoppable but other times it's off by a mile.

I think mastering his jumpshot - whether the straight up one or fadeaway - will determine whether Yao can jump to the next level.

Well, either he's passing more tonight or people are hitting their shots. Having T-Mac back with a vengaence is certainly helping Yao's assists.

You have exactly right. Yao has great court vision and is a very skilled passer when he has space and is balanced. However, when he is being tightly guarded by a double team with the defenders pressing in his face, pushing him back, getting under him and making him off-balanced, he is a poor passer. If you let your opponents to push you back and get you off-balanced, you're not going to be able to throw a good pass. Part of the reason this happens to Yao is because of his body type. He is tall and has poor leverage and shorter defenders can get him off-balanced just by pressing into him down low. Shaq can maintain his balance better in similar situations because he is heavier and has a lower center of mass. Part of it though, is poor technique on Yao's part. Yao needs recognize the situation earlier and not let defenders get so close to him so as to be able to push him off-balanced. Like Bill Walton said, using his elbows occasionally will help him a lot in these situations.

Kenny Smith on Quite Frankly just established hisself as a bonafide Yao-hater...

Says Shaq is STILL better than Yao.

Now check out his argument: he claims Shaq made Penny, Kobe and D-Wade better. And that Yao hasn't made T-Mac better.

THIS....RIGHT AFTER Screaming A Smith just said that Shaq looked really vulnerable in the last playoffs and that if not for D-Wade he would have been toast.

    Unbelievable.

Tmac needs to help his own self at this point. Yao can't do much more in terms of taking off the pressure and attracting the defense.

He's an idiot. He needs to remember that even with Hakeem he was still a marginal point guard. You can't always make people better, especially people who already play at such a high level, like TMac.

Well, Kenny Smith did say Yao was a great player... and that he would basically take Shaq over anyone, not just Yao. I don't think it's really hating... it's more like deference or respect.. 'cuz Shaq is still playing and as long as he's playing he should be the king.

I mean if A Smith asked K Smith the same question except substituting D Howard for Yao, the answer would have been exactly the same.

Why should he? He isn't the Point Guard and he isn't the Playmaker. Mostly he passes because he is embarassed to be scoring all the time.

Nobody fails to mention that Shaq made these players better than him, because he was the best player.
In Yao Mings case Tracy Mc Grady has always been better than Yao Ming. This is the first time that Yao has been better than Tracy.
