Let's just hope rushing back doesn't re-injure his foot. How many great careers have been ended pre-maturely from the same sort of thing.

You can try. But prepare for China to blow up parts of the USA too. We have a decent number of nukes that can hit the USA, and as the 4th largest city in the US Houston is likely to be a target.

Good to hear he's doing well, but damn, he should not rush back...It's like you're playing club basketball in favor of your high school...bs

There is no definite schedule, all they said is he "could be fit to play". Much ado about nothing.

Is that supposed to be funny?

On a more serious note, I hate the idea that Yao might try to push his limits, but you have to respect his decision, whatever it may be. I know I wasn't happy when all these players skipped out of the WBC because their team was pushing them to not play.

He wouldn't want to get Chinese fans' hopes up by saying this if he didn't intend to try to play and thought there was a reasonably good chance he would.

funny, that's what I was thinking.

He's had plenty of rest this year. It wouldn't be until just before training camp which would help put him back in shape, and it would allow China the ability to enjoy the benefits of Yao's newly found offensive dominance.

    (as long as he's healed)

Isn't China in the same bracket as the USA for the World Championships? They want to rush him back to face a humiliating defeat at the hands of his NBA rivals?

Man, I gotta give credit for certain posters here with their creative reading between the lines.

What the hell does this have to do with the CNT or Team Yao? There is nothing in that article that suggests the CNT is pressuring him to play and Team Yao is just a mouthpiece.

I think people here forget that Team Yao exists as long as Yao exists. No Yao as a basketball player = no Team Yao, which roughly translates into that they don't get any money if Yao's career ends prematurely. So I do find it funny that some here suggest that either the CNT or Team Yao has any interest in risking further injuries to him.

But then again, morons will be morons.

Yao always wanted to play the USA. He was upset that the USA was not in the same group as China in the Olympics.

You started it. This will turn ugly if you continue.

That would suck if the US nuked China because some guy on Yao's management team said Yao might be able to play in the World Championships.

I think China would have the capability to destroy many major NBA markets. I think the season would be cancelled as a result.

This picture is so commonly misinterpreted. The reason the guy isn't turned into mush is because the tank battalion was ordered to stop and not crush the moron standing there. The picture is actually a picture demonstrating the army's mercy in the face of an open revolt to overthrow the government, not some "peaceful democratic demonstration" that the western media and Chinese traitors such as Falun Gong like to throw around.

You're absolutely right. Team Yao works for Yao Ming, not the CNT. Team Yao is made up of Yao's relatives, friends, and people hired to advise and promote Yao. Zhang Mingji is not just Team Yao's spokesman, but he is also Yao's cousin.

Yao has a record ignoring his own injuries/pains and kept playing until the situation turned worst. He did this for his clubs and he will definitely do the samething for his country. Some said he is not smart but you should know there are always other concerns/priorities in this guy's mind when he made such decisions.

Even though I wanted so much a CNT+Yao team playing against US Dream Team in this WC tournament, I do not believe he is suitable to play and I want him to rest. The CNT team cannot rely too much on a single player. Since Wang is back now we probably should build a 2nd best team around him instead. If this turned out to be a "successful experiment" (this is ironic considering that Wang was supposed to be the #1 option in CNT), it would be good news to Rockets too as Yao may not be requested to play in those Asian tournaments anymore in the future. On the other hand, the gaps between international teams are just so obvious. We have no chance to defeat US and Italy, with or without Yao. And I know it would be so much fun to watch if Yao was playing in the games, but to Chinese clutchfans here, isn't it more fun and exciting if Puerto Rico was defeated by our CNT B-team in the tournament? :D :D :D
