Crazy...news like this keeps pushing Houston further and further out of any FA race, but it seems to be pushing NY out as well, so might actually work out for us anyway
I'm starting to get that feeling as well about Houston may not be a factor tonight. It's still too early though to make that call but it seems that teams are working really hard right now to get positioned for tonight.
well they still can be players tonight. All the big free agency stuff wont happen until teams can talk to players....it may end up benefitting houston tonight though, since teams are throwing away picks and players to just have a chance of getting max FAs. Houston may be able to come in through thebackdoor while everyone is focusing on that and acquire signficant assets for cheap. Then they can flip that for a player that's not even a FA or a pick, someone that's not even in the picture. With all their assets they can get a team to bite when they werent even considering a trading a guy before.
They have the pieces to make deals, Gortat, Carter, Pietrus and even Nelson though that would piss off Howard if Jameer ever got traded.
gotta love this tweet from Hollinger: OKC swallowed $2 million to get the 18th pick. Wash swallowed $17 million to get 17th pick. Quick quiz: Which team is run better? Ouch! ...btw, I'm curious about this - why is Washington helping a fellow Eastern Conference team set themselves to be a dominate young team in the league? I mean Washington hopes to rebuild sometime right? Why help Chicago get a starting lineup of four mid 20s all stars or potential all stars when your trying to build a team to compete in hopefully the next 5 years? So stupid...
I think gilbert is going to wind up in ny after the scrum. Once they get a couple of players, the wiz will trade arenas and a pick for curry and a player. With the upcoming cba deal about to expire, u will see alot of sign and trade throw ins to make deals work.
