Is it possible for the Texans to have the number one pick locked up by game 16?

This is misleading - how many "failures" were drafted in the latter rounds at QB? Sure, you'll get lucky here and there with lower round QBs, but the vast majority fail. I'm making up numbers, but let's say you have a 60% success rate with a top-3 pick, a 40% success rate in the 1st round, and a 10% success rate after the first round. That means its virtually impossible - you could spend years looking for QBs and never find your guy. #1 picks come around very, very rarely - if you don't take the QB now, it becomes far more difficult to find one later. And unlike the old salary system, taking the wrong guy is no long crippling. You can ditch him after a few years without much consequence.

And how many tackles? And how many are available through free agency as opposed to just the draft?

If Washington beats Atlanta, and we lose to both Indy and Denver.

There is no way our SOS will be tougher than Atlanta's, so if we end in a tie with Atlanta, we still get 1.1.

    LET's GO SKINS!!!!!

I see you are not the smartest guy in the world, so I will dumb it down for ya....

Teddy Bridgewater absolutely has the tools to become a top 5 NFL QB.

Whether it happens or not.. I have no freaking clue. I am not Miss Cleo, and neither are you.

Your constant blathering and agenda is getting real old.

You would think the guy could at least cool it until after the draft.

My constant agenda? By your posts, you seem like you are in high school (or younger)...based on how you discuss things.

Again, what agenda am I running when I say that I would take Bridgewater if we stay with pick #1? I think you dont quite understand the meaning of "agenda".

You seem to think Bridgewater doesnt have any weaknesses...you're a clown.

So you see the results of three QBs who are literally nothing alike in terms of results being the same as Bridgewater? That would be quite the feat.

Unless you just meant that he'd be black. In that case, I'll bet on you being right. He probably will be black for the rest of his life. Probably.

Check out these scouting reports...do any of them mention his + arm strength? Some people think he has it, some of them dont. There is nothing wrong with me thinking Teddy has a weakness. Your panties are wound so tightly, that it's difficult for you to even comprehend that there can opposing points of view.

This Texans team doesnt have a few years. McNair has publicly stated that this team is in a win now mode. Infact, he believes the answer was as simple as changing coaching by firing Kubiak. If the Texans miss by drafting Bridgewater, the Texans effectively crippled the rest of the team for years(plural). How long do you give Bridgewater before you consider him a failure? And how many QBs just come in and have success as a starting QB in the Pros?

What the mgmt has to do is flat out say that we are in a rebuild mode. But instead, Mcnair's vision has him believing that the issue is as simple as replacing coaching and the starting QB. However, fans know this not to be the case. There are much more problems to address.

My view on this entire problem is simple. First, McNair needs to address the obvious: Our team lacks talent and depth. Secondly, he should clean house including firing Rick Smith, whose job was to replenish the talent/depth and has miserably failed. Third, fix one thing at a time. If we have a young superstar in JJ Watt on the defensive side of the ball, its time to restock on that side of the ball first. First get out defense to be the tops in the league. And have depth. We cant have one injury, completely ruin the chance for the year. People behind the starters have to be ready at a moments notice. Offensively, we are much more older. Matt is old, so is Andre, Owen, the OLine, and Arian(interms of RB years). This will need more work; a lot more work to get back to where we were.

By investing heavily on defense, the team chooses an identity. The Texans are gonna be a defensive juggernaut. If the offense fails, the defense wont. We dont have anything that we can say is Texans brand of football. We are just mediocre everywhere. The impact of a explosive DE is immediate. The results of a superstar QB takes years in the making. I believe a player like Clowney (lesser extent Barr) yields an immediate impact, and the Texans have something they can bank on, if stuff doesnt go to plan. As pieces of our offense fell apart, our defense couldnt do anything about it. This is exactly why we are 2-11.

You had to go there, didn't you. Cheap. But since you did, why don't we continue your point? This season, Russell Wilson has the chance to become the 2nd black quarterback to ever win the Super Bowl. Interestingly, only three black QBs have ever started the Super Bowl (Doug Williams, D McNabb, S McNair). Is being a black quarterback like being a white cornerback -- i.e. it just doesn't work? Whites lack athleticism to be cornerbacks and blacks the 'it factor' to be QBs? The data would say 'yes', wouldn't it? Or perhaps it's the result of institutional racism against whites playing the cornerback position -- ha.

LOL, Look how MAD you are!!!!!!

You think you're smart because you can google "Teddy Bridgewater weak arm"

You know what? I can find "scouting reports" that say Andrew Luck has an average arm.... Does not mean squat.

Do you hear that? I think mommy is calling you home for dinner.

You're right... It's not like Andrew Luck brought the Colts into the playoffs in his rookie season... Not to mention they were drafted 1.1

You do not build a team around a defense.. You do so around a QB

And, please stop mentioning Clowney... There is not a chance in hell we draft that idiot. So stop.

There's significantly more invested in the first pick overall. The failures are more glaring, and gambling on a less than elite prospect has more risk to it. It's the same reason the Texans picked Williams over VY. It's not the same as it was before the new CBA, but the investment is beyond just finances.

I'd say a 10% success rate of picks outside the first round serverly undervalues the first pick of the 2nd round. It's success rate would likely be close to the 40% first round success rate. And if these numbers were accurate, I guarantee players of Clowney's ilk would have a higher success rate than those of Bridgewater's.

But again, if we stick with a 3-4 & a zone blocking scheme, I do think Bridgewater's the guy.

I'd be surprised if we had the money for expensive free agents. But Cassel, Flynn, and Josh McCown this year have shown what even an average quaterback can do when an O-Line has been invested in, and you have weapons for him to use. Not a sexy pick, but if switching the blocking scheme Matthews fill's a major need & has a pedigree for anchoring the line. Would love to see what him and Brown would do together.

theres plenty of reports that say he has plus arm strength, probably based more around his ability to flick the ball 60 yards without effort. i dont think anyone is claiming he has elite arm strength like flacco, kaepernick, stafford, or cutler these guys have cannons.. also, what he lacks in zip he makes up with a quick delivery.. comparing his arm to matts isnt a good comparison at all. matts best throws are in clean pockets, teddy matches those type of throws when hes on the move. matt was susceptible to dbs jumping curls because he didnt possess enough strength to beat the db, i dont see that problem with bridgewater. also matts deep ball used to die out in the air causing receivers to slow down teddys deep ball sails and his big problem was over throwing deep routes.

Uh...that's exactly why I said you will see reports of Bridgewater having a strong arm and reports of him having a weak arm.

Go back and check the posts here, you're the one attacking me for having a viewpoint that Teddy doesnt have an elite level arm in terms of strength.

Also, when it comes to QB evaluation, you're the one that said Brees has never been known for his arm strength...that's hilarious. You are clearly lost and confused. Stay on the sidelines while the rest of us discuss football. Thanks kiddo.

You think Luck didnt have help? Look at what the Colts did that year. They decided to load up on the offensive side of the ball!
    Pick one: Luck
    Pick two: Fleener
    Pick 3: Allen
    Pick 4: TY Hilton
    Ballard
    Resigned Wayne

got rid of all the QB, WR, TE and junk players. Kept the same line except for Saturday. This is why they still had success.. The OLine was essentially the same. And they hit on every one of their picks...But a majority of changes were made offensively. Their identity is all about offense and scoring. And they addressed it via the 2012 draft. Their defense still sucks.

And what is idiotic, is you continuing to think that Bridgewater is the only answer for a massive problem the Texans have, which is personnel!

There's no Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, or Jameis Winston in this draft. That's been discussed ad nauseam. Being the best QB available doesn't make you the best player available.

You're clueless if you think Clowney won't be strongly considered.
