I still don't get how taking control of your own career versus leaving it up to a random GM is somehow worse.
Would Scottie Pippen BE a HOF player IF he didn't ride on MJs coat tails? It can be said that this GOAT option or that GOAT option had HOFers around him... but true champions MAKE the people around them better!
Pippen was a very good all around player. I'd say without playing with Jordan, he would be remembered as someone like ... Parsons!
Scottie was pretty great without MJ. Bulls were 55-27 in 93-94 without MJ. Losing a very tight series to NY in 7. They were more mediocre in 94-95 before MJ returned, as they clearly missed Horace Grant.
It isn't. But people are always searching for qualifiers in the GOAT discussion. While I agree Pippen would not be the player he was without Jordan, would MJ be a 6-time champion without Pippen? I'm inclined to believe MJ still would've won a ring or two even without Pippen, but there's an argument to be made that Jordan could have retired without any rings.
The question is would Scottie Pippen have developed the way he did without ever playing with MJ? I say no. Very few people would remember him.
Seven years in, Cleveland hadn't brought anyone in to play with Lebron. Seven years in, Jordan won a title(with HOF Scottie Pippen).
Do you remember when Pippen lead a VERY talented Portland team to the Championships? Me Either Rocket River and that team was LOADED with talent
You can't do everything yourself. Every championship team has at least 2 notable players throughout history. That being said, AI would've probably won a championship if he had a good teammate to play with.
I saw Jabbar and MJ play and I couldn't disagree more. I think this is what your really trying to say...... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/BbU4Cb4A4-o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I think he meant this team: http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/2000.html They should have gone to the Finals that year, and would probably beat the Pacers handily. But they choked and let the Shaq-led Lakers sneak past them.
