Although Brooks has the better stats to make him more in contention for MIP, it isn't a farcry for Scola to win it. Brooks is to the Rockets' perimeter offense as Scola is to the interior / post offense. And Scola has gone beast mode so many times, its scary.
The title of the award is Most Improved Player. Statistically-wise, Scola does not have much of an improvement in every single category as Brooks does. He should not be anywhere close in contention.
