Health problems that are not life-threatening: drugs, alcohol or stress. Not a bad move; take a breather, build up some hype and have your pick of college or pro jobs down the road.

He will never walk into something of Florida's status though. Never.

BTW, can't say I'm totally surprised by his reason (if true).

From his demeanor to all the interviews I've read about his experiences from the job, he always struck me as a very meticulous guy who worked very long hours. Not to mention college coaching involves long hours in the off season recruiting.

All these factors combined, I always pictured him as someone who always had his mind running 100 mph about football in the back of his mind even in his spare time.

    We disagree.

    Signed,

Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Alabama, Oklahoma, Dallas Cowboys, etc, etc.

I'm not saying these jobs are better than Florida or that any of them are or will be available any time soon, but these are top of the line gigs.

He has a cyst on his brain that has caused problems in the past. Was in the hospital after the SEC game. Possible heart condition.

He's only like 45 and is already falling apart. I have read that he is pretty bad with dealing with stress.

I find it hard to believe he wouldn't have missed a single practice and that no one would know. No hospital is going to be able to keep that quiet - too many nurses, doctors, patients, etc to hide from.

And if they were able to keep it a secret, why would it would suddenly leak a few hours after he resigned?

Sucks for him and Florida though - he's clearly one of the brightest minds in college football. Will be interesting to see if Florida goes after Stoops, or who else they chase (and what additional dominoes that leads to).

Didn't Urban always talked about handing the whistle to Tebow? If Tebow doesn't get where he needs to go in the NFL draft...... I know it's not likely, he probably would have to be an assistant for a while (I always thought Major would be a UT head coach at some point).

Well it looks like he's staying at Florida in a non-coaching role.

Welcome to the good side. Honestly, I don't see how those original-ers can stand it.

Since he's staying at Florida in a non-coaching role, I think his replacement has to be off his coaching tree like Kyle Whittingham or Dan Mullen.

As compared to Steve Spurrier who I heard keeps the pratices short, makes sure to clock out off the job and get his golf time in lol.

    I have a feeling he'll be interviewed.

I would think these would be the top 2 names:
    Jim Harbaugh
    Steve Spurrier

As expected, didnt take long for Sumlin's name to come up. (Though I think its unlikely he'll be the one)

Since he's turned them down twice before, I guess it's not.
