I don't like the idea of sending both Ron and Shane. I would like to see Ron stay and T-Mac go and have a core of Yao, Ron and Carter.

Well Rod Thorn isn't an idiot, he's actually quite smart so he managed to get Devin Harris for Jason Kidd.

Yeah I dont think they know what they want. They want immediate cap relief but are preparing for '10 I thought? Then again, theyre in the middle of a playoff race but are considering trading their best player. It's all up to us now, counter proposal, or accept or reject their proposal.

LOL we do??? :D :D Last time I checked Hayes was 6'6 and landry was 6'7/6'8. Chuck Hayes is no Josh Boone who is 6'10. The only thing they share is horrible free throw shooting. I'll take Josh Boone over Chuck Hayes any day and I'm a Rockets fan.

T-Mac for carter and Hassell would be a dream. The other deal...not so much.

I wonder if the Nets would reconsider the McGrady trade scenario if the Rockets threw in Von Wafer. He's a young, up-and-coming player in the final year of a minimum deal. Regardless, don't be surprised if the Rockets decide to sweeten a trade deadline deal with Wafer. (Notice, I did not actually make a pun about "sweetening" a deal with a "wafer".)

I would do Carter + filler for Wafer and Ole Yeller.

Also, does Morey have a backup plan for trading Artest in the event that the Nets agree to take McGrady? I would hope that Morey could salvage something for Artest in that situation. If the Rockets could stomach the extra salary, I'd love an Artest-Head for Hinrich swap.

Well in my opinion Devin Harris is their best player. Vince is quite close though, but only reason why Carter is being traded is to free up cap space in 2010 you are probably right about that.

They should take the deal I just offered, Head and Battier for Carter.

No reason to trade Ron Artest, I understand why the Nets would have interest in him, but I don't believe the Rockets have much reasons to trade him.

-Ron Artest is rank 2nd on our team that has led us to wins behind Yao Ming of course.

If we had those two guys, this team would be legit contenders in the Lakers for the West. As it stands, T-Mac has negative trade value now and we'll probably have to wait until draft day at least to dump him off.

As it stands, it sounds like this horsesheet counter proposal just ended the trade talks with New Jersey. My guess is that we go in a different direction now.

Bottom Line is that regardless of what the Rockets do we still have no McGrady so its like we are missing a player anyways ! I don't see McGrady ever playing another game as a Rocket so the Rockets need someone to fill that spot ! The Nets know they are not going to compete this year and I think T-Mac is a gamble but he will clear a lot of cap space for them and if he was to heal over the summer could become a very nice player off the bench. I don't think McGrady's done and he still has some years left in the Tank. What sucks is that I'll have to take my autographed framed T-Mac jersey off my office wall :D

Sources are reporting that the Nets also initially proposed a Yao-Yi swap but were quickly rebuked due to salary cap constraints.

Tracy McGrady, Shane Battier, Carl Landry and Luther Head for
Vince Carter, Bobby Simmons and Josh Boone.

I think this is a good trade for both teams.
Rockets get rid of Tracy and receive two good scorers in VC and Simmons and they get someone to take Landrys spot who is also bigger so they can play the center for Yao in Boone.
The Nets get rid of VC's big 4 year contract and they get three contracts that end before the 2010 free agency. They also get three very talented players in T-Mac, Battier and Landry who may be able to help them compete in a very weak eastern conference.

Besides height, talent-wise. Averaging 17 mins a game and 4.6 ppg for Boone. What I'm trying to say is they want all these players and all we're getting is an ok-good Carter and mediocre Boone? Then we'd have give up Battier, Artest, Head, and Landry? 3-4 are key players in some way or another. No thanks

Hold on there. They later sweetened the pot by including the venerable Josh Boone.
