I really have a feeling that we are going to get Carter tomorrow. I don't know for what, but I just have that gut feeling that we are going to get him. This is the same gut feeling I had when Bonzi Wells signed with us instead of any of other teams he could have for much more money and also Ron Artest coming to Houston (after the rumors).

I think McGradys recent antics have pretty much assured that Artest will not be traded.

See, I don't really think they look at it that way. McGrady really had nothing to do with this (unless you count his offer of being traded), but the actual trade for the Artest package isn't really affected by what has happened to T-Mac IMO. They have given this team their chance, one game against NJ wont prove anything since we are so inconsistent. I don't know man, you maybe right, but its just that GUT feeling, I can't describe it, I just know it.

My gut feeling is Morey is sold on the "big three" model. When the Ron rumors were floating, everyone assumed McGrady would be on the floor and contributing in some capacity. I think they guessed that the chemistry just wasnt there so they wanted to mix up the players and Artest was the most tradable piece.

I believe that Tracy is now done as a Rocket, whether he gets surgery or not, and the Rockets have changed thier mind since last week and will try to resign Artest. Basically what Im saying is Rockets wanted to pair one of them with Yao and get a new third piece...but I think the piece they want to pair with Yao has changed in the last few days and they will move McGrady as soon as they can.

actually I think the only way to deal t-fat for anything valueable now is package him w/ Ron's contract: T-Fat + Artest for Carter + Simmons. Nets got Artest to play this season to keep competive and Mac might be back next season for them. they also saves a lot of $ both 2009 & 2010. we got VC to team up Yao & Simmons's got a huge expiring contract this summer to deal for the 3rd piece. get it done Morey!!

Morey is not in panic mode. I'm sure Morey is saying, "T-mac's here if you want him for 2010; if not suit yourself." Morey's a genus and I'm sure he has his MIT monkeys working Overtime.

tell me how is that? we have yao, scola, shane, ron, wafer, and barry. we add dooling in place of brooks (which actually gives us more size there), Carter for Tmac (a healthy body who still can score and shoot a high %), Boone for Landry (I don't want to do this one but we have to give up something, but on the positive note he is a little taller)

before you just go and say something think about it first is all i am saying

According to Rotoworld... The Nets are trying to "give Carter away...."

With today's trade deadline looming, the Nets are believed to be doing all they can to unload Vince Carter, with ESPN citing two league executives who said the team is trying to "give Carter away."

Carter is guaranteed $33 million over the next two seasons, which could be more than teams are willing to dole out in this economy, but it will be interesting to see if some team gets him for pennies on the dollar. The Rockets and Blazers have been among the teams talking to the Nets.

Is rotoworld legit? Man I am willing to throw a Brooks or Landry in there just to get rid of T-Mac for something decent.

Very interesting. I've always felt this was Thorn's stance all along despite all the media leakage they've let out regarding Vince's supposed "high value". I mean, if I were intent on dealing him I probably would be doing the same thing: disguising my real intentions, trying to drive up offers. Still, you should be able to see right through this.

I would not be suprised if at the last minute the Nets can't get anything else for him they were willing to send Hassel, Boone, and Carter to us for McGrady and Head in what would be a straight salary dump for NJ. Hassel has 2 years and 6m per and then Carter is 15 for 4. Hassel obviously wouldnt be getting much PT but Boone would give us a under 50 backup center and obviously Carter is going to help us more than Shemac. Carter's contract is a bit nerve racking but we are not going to get rid of Yao and he has a small window left so we have to win in the next few years anyways. I would like to see a Yao Scola Artest Carter Rafer team play together for awhile and we still have our bench in tact as well. Just a possibility.

rafer laston has just been traded to orlando part of a three team deal

The deadline has passed, but news of deals and proposed deals is still coming in.

    POSTED: Feb. 19 -- 3:05 p.m. ET

    Alston
Marc Stein: Looks like we have a fairly significant three-way deal that has been submitted to the league just before the trade deadline.

NBA front-office sources tell ESPN.com that Orlando is acquiring Rafer Alston from Houston to fill the void created at point guard by Jameer Nelson's shoulder injury.

The Rockets will receive Memphis guard Kyle Lowry, Orlando forward Brian Cook and perhaps two other minimum-salaried players to make the finances work.

The Grizzlies will receive a first-round pick from Orlando.
