Vince Carter has only 1 more year on his contract than Tracy McGrady and he makes 6-7 mill less per year than Tmac. Also, his last year(excluding the 1 extra year) is a TEAM option. The only reason they do this is for 2010. We would do it for 2011 and right now.

I loved some of T-Macs performances for the Rockets, but as a Rockets fan first and foremost, I think we need to get him in the VC trade, not Artest!

If we give up Artest and Landry and Batman, then I don't see why we would think VC and a still gimpy T-Mac can get us over the hump. Unless T-Mac is acting to just get rid of Artest.

    So much confusion!

    Difference between Those guys is

Wade is still a very young player, T-Mac is pretty old for an NBA player. Only reason why Shaq LOOKED washed up was simply because they did not utilize him correctly like Terry Porter did.

Odom? I don't recall him ever looking washed up, he's always been an inconsistent player.

I was down for getting VC here but for Artest and Shane? I would have to pass.

Funny how telling the truth can tear a team apart. Remember, EVERYBODY was frustrated with Tracy when he quit on them after the Toronto game. The difference is, Rafer & Artest talked to the media about the whole situation while others were smarter and kept their mouth shut.
Tracy is the problem here, not Artest. I'm glad there's finally a guy calling him out, because most fans have been saying the things Artest is saying for years. He needs to play harder, commit himself on defense etc. If it wasn't for Tracy, this year would've been great and considering the $21 million, we would've gotten a lot players / talent too.
I'm afraid Artest is the scapegoat here; it will be a black day in Rockets history, the day Ron Artest gets traded.... :(

shaq never looked totally done. he was still a serviceable big man and still is.

odom...he never looked done. what are you talking about.

wade never looked done either; he just looked like he had declined after a SERIOUS injury.

t-mac is not trying hard, he had minor surgery, and he's looked several steps slow.

    My feeling is mixed.
One one hand is don't underestimate the power of a super star. I have seen some NJ games this year, and Carter still has the stuff. Given the way Shane's playing, esp on the offensive end and Artest's inconsistency, I am not so sure this is not a good trade.
OTOH, Carter's bloated contract, along with Tmac's and Yao's, how are we even going to operate if this thing doesn't work out, esp we are talking about 3 injury prone, and over-the-hill guys (certainly in Carter and Tmac's case, maybe not Yao). This move is too risky.

If we make this move, we are all out and for a ring, which is the only reason for the trade. So let's look at the roster

    Alston/AB
    Carter/Hassel/JB
    Tmac/Wafer/Carter
    Scola/Hayes
    Yao/Deke

This squad is probably good enough to get us to the 2nd round maybe the WCF if not meeting the Lakers, but probably not good enough for the ring.

I say no to the trade.

First off, the guaranteed portion of Carter's contract runs through 2011, which is two years after this one, by which time he will be 33. Then it's a team option.

    You serious?

I hope you guys don't realize that, that's not going to be the FINAL offer. It's just one of the offers going around right now. I just hope Artest stays and I hope he isn't the guy the Nets want because we would be screwed if he was.

I want Carter, but as a Rockets fan, I am not willing to trade Artest for Carter. I am willing to trade T-Mac, Battier, or any other wing player not named Ron Artest for him.

I agree BUT those teams including MIA thought because of the type of game wade plays that he wont last in this league for long esp due to his play from last year which he tried to recover from two surgeries just like Tmac....I dont believe Tmac is done...if Shaq can still throw it down after all these years of abuse and as big as he is Tmac can at least be a star if not an all star in this league....yea maybe his days of ESPN highlights might be over and Scoring championships but he is still more than capable of helping us to the championship in my eyes.....I just dont think he is done...a cry baby? yes? whinner? yes but i think he can still play ball

3 years including this season, yes. The additional one would be a team option.

Just to let you know, Shaq is arguably the most dominant player of all-time. I really don't think you can put the current T-Mac in the same sentence as Shaq.

T-Mac is done....I'm sure he even knows it as a player.

first trade should be tmac for Vince and hassell

second trade should be Hassell and rafer and head package for Baron Davis

    new line up

    B Diddy, Brooks
    Vince, Wafer, Barry
    Shane, Ron
Scola, Landry(might have to be Boone here)

Even though Ron has had an off year I think he is going to be a valuable asset to the Rocks in the future. I personally love how hard the guy plays and would hate to see him go
