You YOF's are pathetic. How did i put yao down?. He is coming off for surgeries and is 30 now. It's logical to think with his body breaking down, he might be in his down turn end of his career. Get a grip YOF'S.

Im so glad that the Rockets signed Scola BEFORE the World Championship, because if Morey would have waited, more teams would make offers to Scola, and he would have to decide.

Yes, the rest of the world takes this so seriously, that Ginobilli, Gasol, and Nowitzki all chose to skip it.

You're conflating having the resources to win with taking the tournament seriously. Do we have enough talent to win this thing? Yes. Is this the best team we could field? No. If our players valued the WC that much, Lebron, Kobe, Wade, and Howard would ante up for this one. They simply don't value the WC as much as they do the Olympics. That is a statement of fact. That's not to say that the current crop of players don't care about winning. Obviously nothing short of the championship will do for these guys. And I'm glad someone chose to show up, especially Durant who will make the A-team in 2012 easily. But I'm talking about our best players, not about the players we've fielded this year.

There's a reason team USA is worried about getting worked in the post by Scola or any team with a decent big, because we didn't have enough quality bigs to send. Kevin Love, while promising, is no DHoward. If you really value a tournament, you send the best you've got, even if you're the odds on favorites. That's what countries do in FIFA World Cup and that's what I wish the US would do in the FIBA World Championships.

To be fair, the EE.UU. didn't SEND their "B" team, most of their main guys chose to bow out for personal reasons aka the NBA season. I still think they will win the tourney but if they come across a performance like the one tonight from a guy like Scola, they will be in trouble. Scola will have his way vs the American PForwards and if EE.UU. doesn't play defense they will get burned.

Not a Yof, I don't even know what that is. I do love Scola and I love this team. My point is you said it like it was just a fact that Yao was gonna get worse. I like to believe that this will be his best year. I hope both of them play very well besides, aren't they like the same age??

i think he really started coming into his own in that portland series, and with one year without yao, he is going to come out and be an amazing compliment to him. If they front yao he is going to have open jumpers and bc yaos man will stay on him, he will get a lot of one on one opp in the post. Plus as you can tell by these highlights, he is so good at coming off of screens and curls... that his game will naturally improve with a 7 ft 6 300 plus guy setting screens vs a 6 ft 8 guy setting screens.
now that we are no longer a tmac/yao only team, we will look to set up scola more and that will only mean greater numbers

No kidding. Scola toyed with Love to the tune of 44 points (20-25) and 12 boards, with Love simply helpless to stop him.

Love plays for the Wolves. Scola had 44 against the Nets.

The FIFA WC is the only world-wide football event, since the Olympics have restrictions so it's actually a U-23 World Cup.
Still, I think it's a disgrace for America's best basketball players not to play at one of the biggest basketball events (even if they value the Olympics more).
