Scola is much much better than O'neal ever be. O'neal is a total loser at the level of starberry and chris webber. Not the type of Morey's player at all.

This writer really don't know what he's talking about. scola and cook? team #1 and #12. Hilarious.

I don't see us needed Oneal...

    Luis & Landry are a great 1 - 2 punch.

Maybe to help out in the Center area? I know he's not a natural center but no one on our team really is.

Personally I wouldn't pull the trigger on this trade BUT maybe by getting to move Cook w/ T-Mac it'll bring us under the luxury tax? If that's the case I'd expect this deal might be going down.

Actually I have been impressed with DA so far. Yes, he makes mistakes, but he hasn't been completely overplayed defensively. He isn't going to be able to guard people like Dwight Howard or the player formerly known as Shaqtus, but he held his own against some of the backup centers in the league.

DA could be shooting better - which is what I think is keeping him out of more minutes in the games more than defense to be perfectly honest.

And do you honestly think that O'Neal is going to say.. "Sure let the undrafted 6'6" PF playing center keep his spot in the starting lineup... I have no problem coming in off the bench." Plus I don't care if Chuck starts but I can't see where O'Neal truly helps fill in our "position of need". Oneal is a PF if you ask me (at least that seems like his ideal spot on the floor)

Though I will be honest and say I haven't seen a lot of Miami's games this season... only bits and pieces here and there... so maybe he's playing more like a true center now.

Hell no, I will take a T-Mac, who is only going to get better this year, over washed up Jermaine O'Neal any day of the week, year, decade, and century.

    Don't do it Morey!!!

I think it's a fantastic trade. McGrady isn't in the Rockets plans. Cook doesn't play. Banks would just be filler. So essentially the trade is Scola and Brooks for Bosh and Calderon. We're not going to have enough money in the offseason to sign a guy like Bosh, so acquiring him via trade is the only realistic way to get him and keep him. Once we have his bird rights, he's pretty much ours. Besides, why would he want to leave? He's in his home state. He's on a good team. What more could he ask for?

It's funny what a year does. A year ago people would have killed to trade Brooks for Calderon. And Scola for Bosh? I'd say that would be a no brainer.

I love Scola too, but if he's what it takes to get Bosh? You give him up. Incidentally, I think they'd be more interested in Landry. He's younger and if they have decided that Bosh is gone either through trade or free agency in the offseason, then what is there left for them to do but rebuild?

Depends on what they can get for Tracy's contract. I think they have made it perfectly clear that they are not going to trade his expiring contract for another expiring contract in Jermaine Oneal. They want someone of value in return and thats why I see one of the youngsters traded with Tracy to get back that value. I am not for trading Tracy for the sake of trading him and especially for Jermaine Oneal and DD when Tracy shakes the rust off he's not the rockets #4 wing and you know it. I am being objective.

    1. You could be right, the Rockets may not make this trade, it would certainly not be my favorite, but I could see the value in it.

    2. I am not sure Tracy ever shakes the rust off (at least this season), and if so, does he fit in.....if he is healthy and motivated, then yes...but both of those are up in the air to me.

It seems to me that DM wouldn't go for this trade "as is", and is hopefully trying to sweeten the deal or make multiple deals. If this is the best we can get fine, but I'd like to see DM working the phones alittle more.

Scola and tracy is a bit much for a older guy on the decline. I'd like to see a younger guy with much more of a up side.

No point in trading T-Mac unless it gets us a superstar in my opinion. The guy has potential to get back to the level he was in 07 and it would be foolish to deal him for a bust like O'Neal. I really hope management doesn't get rid of T-Mac for the sake of getting rid of T-Mac.

No way to Banks or Calderon. The play no D whatsoever and I get to see them 3 times each night they play in Canada. The rewind the game on their own NBA channel.

I would gladly give them Scola, and Tmac for Bosh.

I posted this in random trade thread a while back. How about this.
Boozer isnt working out in Utah and has interest in Miami.
    Scola and Battier to Utah
Tmac and Boozer to the heat
Beasley, Qrich, and Jermaine to houston.
    works on the trade checker.
Maybe we could even get that pick from Utah.

that's a good news. Scola is as valuable as Cook. We can have him back next year.

PLEASE do not trade Scola!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know eventually. Rox gotta make trades to upgrade the team or for financial reasons, but I hope we can have this guy for the rest of his career. Oneal is not worth losing this guy's gritttiness and hustle.

Isn't O'Neal just another half-year rental? I don't see him being a significant upgrade even for this half-year because the Rockets 4/5s are doing quite well and I don't see the Rockets wanting to spend money bringing him back next season, either.

I would imagine that anyone the Rockets trade TMac (probably in conjuction with other players) for would be someone they want to keep long term. Otherwise, I think they would favor not making a move over making a meaningless move.

you don't bother. you straddle the fence playing both sides so you can always say you're right and then you back away when someone calls you on your bs.

you have made the case that this Tmac for Joneal is a good trade. then you later backed off and said it was not your favorite. well played. you got it either way. If we trade for him, you can say "See, I said it was a good trade" and then later when he's outplayed by Hayes and Andersen you can say "see, i said it wasn't my favorite"

if you want to bother, try actually responding to the criticisims that J'Oneals statistics have gone down each month. That he is a power forward that doesn't fit our model. That his knees are shot and he has no elevation. that his contract is as big as mcgrady's and a move for him concedes that we won't be upgrading the roster through tracy's contract. that a 50% tracy is a better fit for this team than a 50% Jermaine o'neal.

wait, that would require that you took a definitive stance. SHEESH! I'll quit pounding my chest and return to the land of the apes.
