http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/22193/power-rankings-top-10-nfl-running-backs Ranking the Running Backs 1. Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans 2. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings 3. M. Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars 3. Arian Foster, Houston Texans 5. Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs 6. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons 7. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams 8. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens 9. R. Mendenhall, Pittsburgh Steelers 10. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers 10. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles 10. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders
Looks like a fair list. AP fumbles to much to be #1. Speaking of fumbles, kind of fitting that two guys that practically never fumble (Mendenhall, Rice) are right next to each other considering that omen served them no good this past postseason where both had key, backbreaking fumbles that changed the game. LeGarret Blount and his right hook has potential to crack that list sometime soon too.
Pretty fair list. I would have ranked Maurice Jones-Drew behind Foster, Charles, and Turner, but they were really close, so I can't argue much.
Ignore receiving and just look at runs for a moment. Charles got 1,467 yards on 240 carries. Foster got 1,616 yards on 327 carries. That means to get equal production, a team with Charles needs a back to carry the ball 87 times for 151 yards. Or for <2 ypc. Considering Charles + any cheap, medicore RB = production of the best rusher in the NFL, that's not a bad guy to have. I'd take him over the guys below him.
Very true. I had to check (not that I don't trust you) since I stopped watching Vikings games once it became clear their season was going down the toilet. Hopefully, for his sake, it's a trend and not a fluke. It would be nice to see him shed the fumblitis in a season where the games matter. Stay tuned...
