"The jet-fueled offense has steadily improved throughout the season, a testament to the coaching staff's impact. If you split the season by 10-game segments, Houston's offensive efficiency failed to increase once."
I don't think that's true at all. Well, maybe the part about morey's trades, but i think you're definitely about the style of play. He mentions it constantly, it visibly bothers him on the sideline. He has said again and again that we can't play half court and ISO. Player and ball movement is what they need. Alot of them not doing this comes down to the quote about wanting to run until you have to and the fact that harden is an elite scorer who falls in to a habit where he is just doing what is probably most comfortable and natural for him ( ISO ). No different then any elite scorer and their teammates who end up ball watching.
We got McHale only because he was willing to give the FO say in coaching philosophy (unlike Adelman). It's the assistant coaches who are able to breathe life to all those advanced stats. McHale balances it out with his playing experience. COY? Not yet. Until McHale shows he is able to make timely adjustments when the game calls for it and he doesn't fall asleep on the bench so that he can timely substitutions. Then I'll believe.
This also shows how Harden is a perfect fit for the offense sabermetrics is espousing. "[Morey] didn't just find a superstar, he found his superstar."
It's just unreal how harden has turned this franchise around but moreys work is not done yet excellent excellent article mchale for COY. I just can't wait to see who morey pairs with harden if Dwight stays I think morey finds more gems but I think 2014 is the year we really strike in FA
This was my favorite part. "We have to impose our will and do what we do." -James Harden That sounds so FAMILIAR!! Instead though I believe T-Slack always replaced "WE" with "I." We have a great TEAM, and I've enjoyed every moment this season. The highs, and lows. They've surpassed my expectations, and it seems Morey got so lucky that he got the not just superstar he tried for years to get, but he got the superstar he wanted, and needed, a guy that is so efficient that it fits Morey's "Moreyball" to a T!
