I find it funny. Earlier someone called 610 talking about how Reggie was going to catch one pass over middle and get creamed and he's not going to be able to handle it.

I agree, not sure wheter to laugh or what. This is getting ridiculous how fast people can flip flop on their stance and views.

Arguments that should not be used:

    1. Reggie can't take a hit. The guy carried the ball, caught passes, returned punts and returned kickoffs. He can handle a workload.

    2. Vince is a hometown guy. Who cares, that has nothing to do with how good he will be in the NFL.

    3. You won't be a Texans fan anymore if they draft Bush instead of Young. Nobody cares what channel you have the tv on during Sunday football games.

Thanks for that, but it really doesn't matter. He could carry the ball 40 times a game, and average 250 yards rushing per game and people would still want VY because he's a "hometown guy".

Nice video though, I haven't seen that one. thx

Vince who? Can't wait for Reggie to be a Texan! No way Casserly and McNair give up on Carr.

Damn I went fishing and all I could get was a LMAO. I still think you have to think long and hard about who to pick and have to consider if the talent is equal and I believe it is the HUGE bonus VY could bring to the team in terms of fan support and excitement. Also if there were an argument to be made regarding our current players dictating who we should take I tend to lean more towards DD is more servicable as a starter in this league than the Pretty Boy who celebrates a touchdown pass down 30 like he won the Superbowl.

After watching USC a ton for TWO years I had been saying all season Bush was spectacular talent but nontheless overated as a college football player and surefire pro prosect. I haven't changed my tune, too many people were focused on his best 20 plays over his every down impact throughout the season. Probably the Rose Bowl was the first oppertunnity for people to see VY and Bush's impact over the course of an entire football game. You have to be blind or completely biased not to know who was the best athlete and best college football player by now, and it isn't/wasn't Reggie Bush. Even halfway open-minded Bush Heisman supporters now admit they missed it (my fathert in law).

I would gather Thomlinson or Sanders or Faulk had TWICE the carries Bush did their last college seasons, and with the exception of Sanders who played behind Thurman for a while, I'd guess 3 plus times Bush's total carriers/touches. Same deal with say Tony Dorsett, who you might try to compare Bush with. Whole defenses were designed to destroy these guys to no avail. Bush, playing on a completely loaded USC team (3-4 other 1st rounders in the skill positions) and with the best Oline in football, never had near the physical or mental challenges those guys faced.

Bush might be about to carry the ball 20 times, or it might tear him up the way it does to say Bryan Westbroook. There are a lot more 200ish pro RBs with short careers and whose bodies who can't take NFL speed and force than guys who can. It is a major question Bush can be anything close to a workhorse.

On the PR/KR thing. First, this plays to Bush's strength, open field running. I don't have a doubt in my mind about his open field skills. But as you say against an athletic and speedy team like Texas, the space in the return game and the offense were ton less than he was used to and he was much less effective. Now to place him in the Pros, where their is an even bigger speed and strength advantage over the Longhorns than the Longhorns were over the West Coast teams, that space is even less and the guys are going to hit him with a heck of lot more force. Finally, if he does return kicks and punts in the pros, that right there means he isn't a 1st overall type pick. 1st overall type picks don't play special teams (except perhaps the playoffs), not because they can't, I am sure Barry Sanders or Faulk would have been great at it, but because they are too valuable.

Finally some side notes. I think Reggie Bush is a great player and great athlete. I also think he showed a ton of class after the defeat. I hope he has a fine career. I also saw him turn the corner on the Texas secondary with 2-3 pro prospects like I haven't seen anyone else do--this is actually much more impressive than ripping apart a slow footed Frenso team for like 500 yards. Despite my major questions about his durability and ability to be a workhorse back I think he should go top 3 or for sure top 5 based on his talent. But I would not spend a #1 overall pick on him in a draft with potentially 2 franchise QBs on the board (VY, ML). That is a monumental risk in money and talent for a player with too high probability of not lasting. If I were the Texans I take VY #1, trade down to 2-3 and take Bush (saves a lot of money and get draft compensation), OR trade further down for the best OT/DE/OLB plus a ton of compensation. But to not be open to doing all possible research (bring in VY, ML, OTs, OLBs, DEs in person, discuss trade options with others) and lock in Bush using your #1 overall pick is totally stupid.

You don't think the 05 USC team with 2 heisman winners is one of the best teams ever? I do. That also makes Texas one of the best teams ever because they beat them. It came down to the wire, not like one team blew out the other.

If these two teams played 10 times, who would win? I'd say they are pretty equal, 2 of the best teams of all time, each having 2 of the best college football players of all time.
