The real question for me is...

With this news (if true), does Vince go back to school? I get the feeling he really wants to play for Houston and if not, he wants to go back and win the Heisman.

See that's where my opinion differs. I think Carr will be an average QB at best. People can knock Vince, but we've never seen a QB like him. At that size with the speed and quick decisions, it's sucks that we well not take the gamble on him. Well, at least we'll get Bush :) .

Well, I hope the Texans keep their options open all the way to the draft, which I'm sure they will. This seems like too bold of a statement to come from a team official this far from the draft.

I'd be happy with Bush, but there are going to be a lot of disappointed people if we let VY walk right out of our backyard.

So how do we go about petitioning McNair to draft VY?

I would bet money that this was leaked simply to force Vince Young to stay in school and avoid the PR nightmare of choosing Bush over him with both available.

If Vince still comes out, I think they will reconsider.

Atleast I hope so. I keep telling myself there is NO WAY they are this f*cking stupid. I don't care if they take Young or not but at the very least, you HAVE to put the pick up for bid.

John McClain said the reason they won't trade the pick is because they have 4 of the first 65 picks in the draft including the first 2 picks in the 3rd round. I knew all alone the Texans were taking Bush. McNair wants to compete next season not 3 years from now. Kubiak turned Plummer into a decent qb and I think he can do the same thing for Carr.

Ditto Chance. All Longhorn Alums Gen Yers from h-town will pledge thier loyalty to VY team. I was 14 when the Titans left so I have no allegance to any pro football franchise. I follow VY.

PS. Watching this Army Bowl I feel a liitle bit better about giving incomming freshman Jevean Snead the keys to the car.

I'm glad that the Texans will most likely select Bush.

I hope Young does go to the Titans. I don't care if we have to play him twice. It'll be fun to experience it, for years to come. I don't watch football, because I'm only satisfied whether we get a local talent or not. I want to have confidence in the organization to. CC and Dom has put fans through agony for most of the time.

For those that change from the Texans to wherever Young goes, because the Texans decided that Bush was a better pick, good riddance. It's your right as a fan of sports and Vince will have plenty of fans to join you.

I predict Carr will have his best year, under a different offense with better coaching and better players.

You'll find out that Reggie was the best fit.

It will absolutely break my heart to see VY with the Titans. It took me a long time to disavow my allegiance to the Oilers and I don't want to have to root for them again. Come on McNair, do the right thing, be a man!

I know... that's all I wanted. If this is true, which it seems like it is, it really pisses me off.

I'm pretty happy to hear this news. I've become a fan of both these players, especially after the Rose Bowl. So don't mistake me for being pro-any player. But looking at the Texans, I think Bush betters fits with the team's plans. He can come in and make a difference right away. And I like the fact that if Young does declare the Titans might pick him up. He can go to a team w/ a similar style, veteran quarterback who also happens to be his mentor. So when Mcnair retires, Young will be ready. If Young comes here, who can teach hiim...Carr?! So you have Bush going to Houston to work alongside Davis, Carr and Andre (that gives you four key weapons), NO possibly getting a Hesiman winning, seasoned college QB in Matt Leinart and the Titans picking Young to learn under Mcnair.

And I'd acutally like to see Young stay at Texas one more year...could be fun to watch him eat up the competition and go for the Heisman and a repeat.

People who want to draft Bush forgot about Davis. Davis is a far better player than Carr, and what he and Andre Johnson could do with Vince would way more successful than what a Carr-Bush-Johnson combo could do IMO.
But then again, I do like Bush a lot...

Let's just hope Vince stays and play for Texas next year so the Texans can draft Bush and they wont be critisized by more fans like me after Carr stinks it up again for the next few season.

Even if he stays in Texas, I think Texans have blown it IMO. I truly believe that if Texans let VY know that he'd be pick with the first pick, then he would come out.

If he stays in Texas, then the Texans will have to be having a terrible season (2-4 wins)to pick up VY. If that happens to be the case, then it would sound like Reggie Bush probably was not able to help the Texans.

Even if VY cannot play QB the first year, he would create major mismatches as either a WR or TE in the league. It won't be a wasted season if the Texans were to draft him.

Vince has shown that he is the greatest college option QB of all time, but that's about it. Could he be a great NFL QB? Sure. I'd say even say probably. But that's not going to happen for a few years. And the Texans need to improve NOW after taking this giant step backwards. I'm okay with picking Bush.

I personally think that Vince Young can play some WR and TE and create a lot of mismatches while he develops into a QB. I really don't think he'd be riding the pine if the Texans (or anyone else) draft him.

That's weird that this news is coming out so soon. John McClain yesterday talked about they couldn't decide now since...
    A) Neither player declared yet
    B) They don't have a coach in place with a system and direction they want to go yet.

Regardless, to show their hand this quickly surprises me. Maybe, if Mortenson is correct in that scouts project Leinart picked ahead of Young, the Texans show their hand early to get interest started in a trade for the pick. I mean, imagine a trade that could land them that 3rd overall pick, plus extra picks. They pick Young and get extra picks as well. This is why the arguing on who should be picked is kind of petty to me. The Texans are in an UNBELIEVABLE position to get a great player who is one of the greatest prospects ever (Young or Bush) and possibly set up getting more as well if a team right under them wants to leap up to get one or the other.

The only other thought I had was that they are sure that Kubiak is their man and who said that, with his offensive system, Bush will be a god and/or he sees that Young won't be as good in the league.

No they don't. They're not going to be good for a few years anyway. They proved that last year going 2-14. Why not rebuild with Vince, and trade Carr.
