I'll take Reggie Bush, but Carr better prove the Texans made the right decision. Carr has been a bust so far.

The Texans have a lot of good pieces already in place and are in better shape than alot of other teams. Just because you have the worst record doesn't mean you are in the worst shape. The Chargers were in last place a couple years ago and had the number one pick, and the next season they went 12-4 without even playing their first round draft pick. The Texans had a horrible season. If they can add a few pieces and Gary Kubiak, they can have a pretty good season. They are in no way in a position to completely start over. Thats rediculous.

I could care less where Vince goes. Where he goes, that's where I go. That is where my NFL loyalty will lie. No kidding. He changed the way I watch and care about football. I can't wait for him to go pro. I hope its here but I really don't care. Where he goes I'll drop about $500 on gear for that team and I will be ready to roll!!!!

I'm all for the Texans taking Reggie Bush.

But for the Texans to not even consider other options is just stupid.

    This team went 2-14.

Just about everybodys job should be on the line and that defintely includes David Carr who hasnt proven anything in 4 seasons

That sucks because VY is my favorite college player of all time. It will suck to see him go to another team other than the Texans. Plus, I can't stand David Carr.

Agreed. Did they really have to make a decision this early?

The Texans are far away from being a good team. The only good players on the team are Andre Johnson, Robinson, and DD (on some nights).

Mortensen for whatever reason doesn't seem to like Vince Young and has a real hard-on for Matt Jones, former Arkansas QB turned Jags wideout. So he tends to undercut Young and measure him against the gold standard of Jones, who is apparently a better runner AND a better passer than Young. How anybody can say that with a straight face is beyond me.

I knida feel the same way, but the Texans are my favorite team. I'm still gonna root for VY where ever he goes though. It would have been cool to see him play in his hometown and be the first REAL superstar for the Texans franchise.

I'd agree with you if I had forgotten the fact that we tanked the last half of the season. This year's Texans team could have easily won 5 or 6 games. Yes, we are bad, but not the worst team in the NFL.

Although drafting VY would be fun, its not the smart pick at all. Filling in a couple additional pieces could bring this team right back up to 7-8 wins very easily.

With Carr in place, Texans to take Bush
    ESPN.com news services

The Houston Texans will select USC running back Reggie Bush with the No. 1 pick in this April's NFL draft, pending the formality of Bush announcing that he is turning pro, team and league sources told Chris Mortensen.

Almost nothing will change that course, the sources say, even after the Texans received word Friday from an intermediary representing Texas quarterback Vince Young that the Houston native is leaning strongly to also going pro.

The Texans will pick up an $8 million option on quarterback David Carr, who was the expansion team's first draft pick four years ago. Texans owner Bob McNair made the decision after getting extensive evaluations from various sources that strongly endorsed Carr, including a favorable report from Dan Reeves, the former longtime NFL coach hired last month as a consultant.

USC's Matt Leinart, who could have been the first pick a year ago had he turned pro after his junior season, still remains the consensus top quarterback in the NFL draft, even if Young comes out. For Leinart, he is likely to be the choice of the New Orleans Saints at No. 2 with Young projected to the Tennessee Titans at No. 3.

Young would be mentored by Titans quarterback Steve McNair, who is hoping to sign a new contract with the club for the 2006 season.

Leinart also would be desirable to Tennessee, where his former USC offensive coordinator Norm Chow is now calling plays for the Titans.

It does seem a bit early to make this decision, so I'd be surprised if the Texans really have made drafting Bush their only option at this point. I guess we'll see.

Same here, they're both electrifying players that will help this franchise. But yeah, some people aren't going to like it if we do anything besides drafting Young.

I think I would be too, mainly because of the Houston connection.

What makes it hurt even more is that I have to see more of David Carr  .

Carr doesn't suck, that's a fact, and he may become really good if the offensive line improves, but at worst he's going to be average his whole career, and in today's NFL an average QB is very hard to find. Most starting quarterbacks suck, that's a fact, the QB position is worse than the NBA C position. Vince Young looked outstanding this past season, he looked like he's going to be outstanding QB in the NFL too, but so did Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Jeff George, Joey Harrington, Tim Couch, Kyle Boller, Rex Grossman, etc.

QB is an extremely risky position to draft, the Texans already dodged the QB bust bullet with David Carr, why play QB Russian roulette again? Not only that but most QBs that do end up working out take at least 2 years, most of the time more, for them to reach their full potential. The RB position traditionally almost always pans out and pays immediate dividends, most offensive ROYs are 1st round pick RBs.

What I'm saying is that we should be happy with either one...
