I've seen Skip bash Yao for shooting jumpers and being 7 feet tall then literally praise Dirk in the same discussion for shooting jumpers and being 7 feet tall.
His new favorite daily argument has been one of my favorites. Broncos win .... Tebow is god and carried/willed the team to victory cause thats what he does. Broncos lose .... how can you expect him to win with that team? They are terrible!
After watching first takes power rankings... I'm starting to think Houston doesn't exist. Spoiler If we make noise in the playoffs I think all ESPN will talk about is how the other team is actually better than us but didn't show it.
I haven't read this thread since I see little value in what ESPN says. ESPN is great for watching a game if you don't listen to the commentary too much. ESPN.com is a great source for scores, standings, and other facts, but I rarely read their stories. I find getting local news reports about different teams to be more accurate than getting the New York version of everything even though they have tried to be more regional. The internet is a great place and there is less of a need for a "national" sporting news hub. I look forward to the day that someone figures out how to remove the commentary from sports feeds while leaving the noises of the game.
Skip came up and acted like he was reaching for the Texans helmet and you could hear Kordell say "not at all". In the ESPN.com power rankings, the Texans are 8th, 3rd in the AFC behind the Ravens and Steelers and ahead of the Bengals, Jets, and Pats.
Which is lame because who have the Bengals beaten? The Bills? They also lost to the Broncos. We beat the Stealers and have not lost to a garbage team, yes we lost to Oakland but they were playing much better before Palmer. We would smoke the D-less Pats right now. Brady would be playing Madden with Peyton for the rest of the season after our game. But I guess we have to wait for the playoffs before ESPN can see that.
Is there anything else on at 9 AM? I usually have it on but I don't really watch it. I happened to look over when they were doing the AFC rankings so I caught that part.
agreed. i can not watch these commentary shows on ESPN. hearing a bunch of guys comment on teams they've never seen play is a total waste of time. honestly, how many Texans games do you believe Skip has watched this season? i'm guessing a half. maybe one full game total.
I respect Barkley's predictions. For no reason at all they had him covering NCAA games, and it was clear that he didn't know nor care to know anything about the teams leading up to the game. But when Duke was up 8 on Arizona at halftime, he only needed 20 minutes to assess the talent before predicting Arizona would pull it out. Everyone else at the table was stupefied, because Duke had just finished mauling Zona and the only reason they were within single digits was because Derrick Williams had made three nasty threes from the NBA line almost. But sure enough he picked it right; Williams went into God mode and Duke's guards choked it up. Barkley was the only analyst who picked it right.
John Clayton giving the Texans some love in his midseason report. He has Chris Myers, Eric Winston, and Brian Cushing on his midseason all-pro team. He gives Wade the award for best assistant coach and names JJ Watt his Defensive ROY. Midseason grade is a B. EDIT: Link http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7...-picks-award-winners-elite-quarterback-review
Watched that, we should at least be a B+. he cites 2 bad losses by us but which ones? Raiders are 1 but what's the other? Lost to ravens and saints on the road. Neither are "bad"
Schefter: [rquoter]7. Texans endure: Houston has taken a 1½-game lead in the AFC South and is threatening to win its first division title. It's hard to see how it won't do it now. But what this Houston teams has proved so far is that it can lose some key players and still keep winning. It lost linebacker Mario Williams to a season-ending injury in October, only to see rookie second-round pick Brooks Reed register sacks in each of Houston's past three games, including two against Cleveland. It lost running back Arian Foster for three games, only to see backup Ben Tate rack up so many yards that he is fourth in the AFC in rushing yards, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. The Texans also have been without wide receiver Andre Johnson for the past five games and have won the last three of them. Once Johnson returns, probably after the Nov. 20 bye for the Nov. 27 game at Jacksonville, the Texans will be well positioned to make their postseason push -- and procure a first-round bye. . . . Upset of the week: Buccaneers over Texans -- Houston might be the most balanced team in the AFC. But Tampa Bay is playing for its playoff life.[/rquoter]
