No disrespect to MJ, but VC can dunk it on anyone, anytime from anywhere. He is what you get when you combine MJ's airtime with Dominique's power. I've never seen a guard throw it down in traffic more than him.

Jordan is good.... but I doubt he can pull some of the stuff Vince pulled.. seriously.. dunking over Weiss.. 360 windmill...

Jordan glides more than he hangs in the air.. Vince hangs in the air till hes bored

MJ had the free throw line and the double pump dunk. As far as creativity, i think Dominique had them all beat. When you see a lot of Carters dunks you see Dominique's dunks from the 80's. So 1. Dominique 2. VC 3. MJ 4. Spudd Webb

I agree with this (save for Spud Webb). Nique was truly amazing. They were showing his dunking highlights on NBATV last night. Man...he'd be a Sportscenter superstar today.

Thinking about in-game dunks and just nasty, "all up in your grill," dunkers my order is as follows:

    Nique
    Vince
    Dr. J
    MJ
    Clyde

LeBron and Wade have one dunk--they don't deserve to be on a top 40 list of dunkers. It's why you can't take these shows seriously. What makes the greatest dunkers great is that they have their own style: Dr. J, Jordan, Carter, Wilkins. Drexler is slightly below that tier. Where was Shaq on the list? His ferocity and ability to dunk in traffic before he got fat and lazy were incredible.

    T-Mac isn't skinny anymore. He's well-built for a SG/SF.

You "old school" people are taking it way too far. Yes nique and MJ should be in the top 5 if not the top 3. But there is one undisputed dunker of all time. He solidified it when he went over a 7 footer. Ive seen that clip a 100 times and still cant get over it.

J.R. Rider had one of the best ever dunk in the dunk contest in 1994.
Carter over French 7" was very impressive too.

    What about Dream?

He wasn't a wing player, so he didn't have a lot of gliding dunks, but particularly in his younger years he destroyed the best front lines in the leagues by going over or through several guys.

Not to sound too much like a homer, but Clyde had some incredible dunks, including in the Louisville game where he jumps over some guy.

Here are my top tier, in no particular order:

Dr. J--the Babe Ruth of dunks... took it to a higher, artistic level.
    'Nique--Human Highlight Film indeed.
MJ--Weaving through defenders and a little nasty
    Clyde--Head down and then... BAM!
Vince--Good for a huge number of amazing dunks each season.
    Chuck--runaway freight train.

Best Dunking Center: No Contest... Dream.

    Old School: Connie Hawkins... Swoop!

Spud should've made the cut.. That guy can fly! I heard legends that he once jumped from the 3pt line, over Mount Olympus, saved a kitty from a tree, eclipsed the sun, and threw it down over Jordan.. all in one smooth move

Lebron at 6 is way too high. He deserves to make the list but definitely no higher that 10-15. Also, I'd have the good Doctor at 4 or so (and probably higher if I were more familiar with his play outside of what everyone knows).

Finally, I heard the exact same thing about Spud Webb, Yaozer, but instead of Jordan I heard it was the reanimated, cyborg upgraded corpse of Bill Russel. Spud is my hero not only cause he stays away from drugs and encourages me to take my vitamins, but also because he was the greatest dunker of all time. The end.

I can't believe Amare made the list. I can only imagine two of his dunks: me dunk hard and me dunk harder (w/ a Nash assist btw).
