Carter shouldve been number 1. Jordan's highlights paled in comparison to vince's.

Definitely Vince first. MJ was innovative, and was one of the first truly awesome dunkers, but Vince was just... wow. When I saw Jordan highlights, I was thinking "Dannng" but watching Vince is just an even more exciting. Vince #1 MJ #2 Mac at #12 sounds pretty good to me. Wish he could still do what he used to do back in Toronto

I have to go with Jordan. Jordan filled stadiums with people just waiting for him to dunk.

Wade?! What the Hell? I've never seen him do anything special and he hasn't even entered the contest. Total disrespect for much greater dunkers.

I may have missed it in the thread, but where was Dominique ranked? In my opinion, he had some of the nastiest dunks I've ever seen... Vince included.

Tell me they showed Mac's dunk on Bradley from the Mavs series in 2005....that was absolutely horrendous.

Vince Carter has to be number 1. Carter is like a Jordan-Wilkens combo dunker.

there's no doubt that vince carter is the greatest dunker ever. just watch the video. it's like he jumps off a trampoline and so powerfully throw it down. half-man-half-amazing can posterize any big men. it doesn't matter if mutombo, david robinson, ben wallace, and mourning.

Tough call between MJ's air, grace and artistry, and Vince's Vinsanity... I want to say Jordan #1, but I can't get over his dunk contest dunks, and his dunk over the 7 foot euro in the Olympics in 2000, when he jumped right over his head... probably the only dunk that I've ever seen where I literally couldn't believe my eyes :)

T-Mac fits in right about 10-12 I'd say. If he wanted to he could make the single digits but dunking isn't really his thing anymore, though as I'm sure we all know he can still put it DOWN.

I agree with MJ at #1 because of his grace and fluidness while dunking. As another poster said, it was truly poetry in motion. Vince has had more spectacular dunks over his career, but for Jordan's smoothness and the impact he had on the sport and on dunking I'd put him first.

I also want to know where Dominique Wilkins was ranked. If I had to rank the top three off the top of my head I would have to go: MJ, Vince, then Dom. Dominique was one of the finest dunkers in NBA history no question and anything less than top 5 would be an insult. Also, what about King James? Did Lebron rank anywhere in the top 20 or whatever it was (he certainly had to if D-Wade made it for Christ's sake)? The thing about James is you know the guy can throw it down with style but he refuses to really show his stuff in the dunk contest because it's bourgeoisie or something; though anyone who has seen his random dunks while warming up knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Finally, D-wade... on the top 20 dunkers of all time list?! I wish the sports media would get their collective heads out of his a**. He's a great and talented player but no way is he the best player in the league and no way is he a top 20 dunker. Hitting a few spectacular three pointers now and again doesnt make a person a great 3 point shooter, the same rule applies to dunking for Wade. Good luck with the aging team you've inherited D, but hey, if Shaq keeps saving his strength for the playoffs and missing 75% of the regular season you guys might be able to make noise in that weak mess of a conference for the next... 2 seasons or so. After that, welcome to life as the next big superstar stuck on a team going nowhere. Take THAT D-wade, you undeserving dunker.

I agree. I grew up in Atlanta and watching Dominique play was just exciting and fun. He had this one running dunk on Larry Bird that was a disgrace to Larry's legend. Call me old school, but I think it would be insane to put VC over The Human Highlight Film . . .

They also mentioned a couple of other players that didnt make the cut like young (Philly) Barkley...

I think Jason Richardson shoud have been at least mentioned.

when it comes to in-game dunks, Jordan shouldn't be in the top 3. when it comes to ferociousness and style, IN-GAME, the list should go something like this:

    1. Vince
    2. Nique
    3. Dr. J
