Stern will lobby the hell out of this investivation. Somebody is going to fall. I just hope JVG doesn't release the name to save his job. I don't think he will and Stern is going to boil over.

I don't know why ESPN has such obvious hacks on their payroll. Stephen A. Smith just picked the Mavs to win game 7 because, "Yao has been soft, he's given me nothing, and that's why the Rockets won't win." Never mind the fact that he's scored 30 points twice in Dallas, and is shooting 69% for the series. He's scoring a whopping 3 ppg less than Dirk.

Nowadays I just need to see "ESPN" to know EXACTLY what it's going to say on this matter.

I heard the damn idiot. Has espn become this bad? I mean here is one of their guys yelling to its audience that a player who is scoring 20 points and shooting 70% in 30 minutes of play during the playoffs has offered absolutely nothing to his team and is as soft as Shawn Bradley. I don't know, am i missing something here.. am i living in some other world where I just heard that. thats what i'm asking myself. i just dont want to believe that espn could have somebody on that ****ing r****ded.

When was the last time the first round of the NBA playoffs were on network TV? 8 Series is a lot of programming to pre-empt....

Before the all cable deal, they had a lot more basketabll on Free TV than now. Even the Conference finals are on Cable TV.

It's amazing, Stephen A. Smith actually makes Barkeley tolerable. Smith just yells and screams, but Barkley at least stands behind his claims by saying he'd kiss an ass if he was proved wrong

That's true, but I bet back then there was a lot less channels as well....people now have so much more choice plus the internet - it's hard to imagine that ratings will ever be the same.

That being said, I don't think people have a problem tuning to TNT to watch the stars play. These days people if you don't have cable, you probably don't watch a lot of TV anyway.

Yao did play rather soft there at the end, and the fact was that at the end of the day, he was benched not for foul trouble, but atrotious play.

If it were not for Deke, we might be in the offseason. I think it's a valid point to say that Yao is on nerves and not likely to play well. He seems to be affected by the pressure, as indicated by his free-throw shooting, and he's walking into his first game 7 ever....

I'm sorry to say, and I am not a Yao Hater or trying to bash him, but if the writer has a point in terms of which Yao will likely show up on Saturday.

Of course, no one knows for sure....

If I have a job as a basketball analyst, media guy, whatever, I’m going to make sure I know what I’m talking about before I talk about it. If I did what Steve A Smith just did right there and then was told of Yao’s stats during the playoffs, I’d fire myself. I'd go ****ing sell ice cream are something. How can you go on doing what your doing after being so wrong about something like that. You got to call it quits, move on, go flip burgers or whatever, but there has to come a time where you have to be held accountable for what you say. There’s flat out lying, there’s confusing the facts -which happens, but then theres what steven smith just did there: just talking without even thinking. Just lip moving. Is that what espn has come to - a bunch of ******* lip movers. Just flap your ****ing lips and that’s good enough, off to the next segment. If that’s what its come down to over there than that is comedy junior college of Bristol or whatever they call it.

yeah I know where you're coming from, we're all just dogging him because he says Yao has played soft the entire series and hasnt contributed anything. Obviously, thats a bunch of bull

From reading guys like Steven A. Smith and a lot of the other analysts on tv these days you'd think Yao was performing worse than he did during the regular season. Bottom line is that he's got better numbers than Shaq in the playoffs so far but everyone's still giving him heat for no good reason. They just need to lay off. Yao could score over 30 points on near perfect shooting and the media would criticize him. Oh wait, they DID during this series.

Skip should just stick with the boxing. From what I've read of his columns, he's usually a bit off with his bball analysis.

Whenever Yao has not played well, it's usually because of exhaustion. Doug Collins mentioned that Yao looked winded at around the 5 minute mark in the 3rd quarter. He had absolutely no elevation, could not hold on to passes, and was just stumbling around.

He plays one game with intense energy and the next with zilch.

Who knows if it's physical or mental but he just seems completely lethargic at times as though he had a twenty pound weight tied to his ankles.

If he would just jump, he'd be unstoppable.
