Suns would be smart to move Nash. At this point, Nash is only helping them be mediocre. They are going to have to rebuild, and do they really want to pay him big money again to stay beyond next season?
This comment made me laugh. Why trade for Nash other than to mentor Rubio? I guess he could provide some veteran leadership to a young team but is it really worth the number 2 pick?
Wrong year to have the #2 pick, any other year and Kahn would have made a big deal by now. He still might but looking like he might just need to take Williams.
Nash is not going to play in Minny why the hell do they need a vet pg for anyways, a Number 2 pick for a 2 year mentor for Rubio... Kahn SMFH
Their thought process might be that they're already getting their draft pick in Rubio. Having Nash mentoring him would be a good idea. That said, no chance this happens.
Is he worth Hasheem Thabeet or Darko Milicic? Maybe a Stromile Swift? Jay Williams? Marvin Williams? Michael Beasley? That said, it would be a stupid move for the Grizzlies. One year left on his deal, in the later part of his career, and on a horrible team.
It seems to be Minny is looking for instant recognition, and they feel they will get it with a all-star player (Nash / Pau). They also seem willing to defy all basketball sensibility to accomplish it, which will undermine their goal in a very short time. They keep making trades like these and they will be right back where they were (before the Garnet trade) with a star or 2, a lacking support cast, and a perennial 1st round playoff exit.
I gotta believe D'Antoni should/would/is going to (if he hasn't so far) make a push for the Knicks to get in the Nash trade mix. Possibly save his job for another year with Nash on board and then Nash would love to be in NYC- playing with STAT and Melo and living in NYC where he can play pickup soccer whenever his heart desires. Then one realizes the Knicks don't really have any decent trade chips.
