Reading posts on this board sometimes is like banging your head repeatedly against a stucco wall. "#2 we didn't do at all"?

Either you are utterly clueless, incredibly dumb, or you were utterly drunk when you posted that. Ugh.

see that was my point from my first post in this thread. you can't get caught up on possition. what if we landed a PG or a PF who can be a legit 3rd option. your #1 would still be unfulfilled. infact it would be obsolete.

as far as virsitility, it's a luxury. you don't really need to be versitile if you're good at what you do.

i dissagree that we filled our need for depth perfectly. there are a lot of players that need to prove themselves.

You honestly think that the Rockets are set at power forward. They do not have a legit power forawrd on this team. No one who can grab rebound, play defense, or protect Yao. Even if you think they need a power forward that can spread the floor, they still have not done that.

Smoothie - I hate to be the english police but I couldn't read that without adding a few grey hairs. Please get a dictionary and use caps every now and then. Maybe even at the start of each sentence.

On the point of your post - you are right. We certainly have players who need to prove themselves. However, what is the other option? I guess you are suggesting we just bring in 3 or 4 players who don't need to prove themselves and surround Yao and TMac with them? That does not seem very realistic. I think Manu and Parker had to prove themselves once upon a time. Lets see what VSpan, KS, Novak and JL can offer in training camp and preseason before we declare we made a tactical failure.

Sorry, we had more than our share of good to great role players two years ago with a younger Yao, Younger TMAC with (gasp hard to believe) less back problems and any way you slice it, any excuse you want to make, we still lost in the first round to a team that didnt go beyond the Rox. Even if you want to use this, do you really believe Snyder, VSpan, and Battier are a better bunch of role players than Barry, Padgett, Sura, James, and yes Wesley then I cant say anything to you to make you believe this team is anything other than a first round playoff loser. Not that I dont believe, but this team is not better than the team two years ago.

Ties into players like.....ummm Alston. You know you can get a PG that has a good assist to turnover ratio who can shoot over .390. And better than .320 from the three point line. Or a Power Foward that can shoot over .459 percent. Is Battier our savior as the shooter on this squad? JLIII? Maybe Snyder or VSpan. Who is our shooter this year. How have we fixed this problem.

Still not solved. No way no how.

Still not solved. No way no how. Snyder was railed out of his last home. Dogged by his coach for laziness, and an inability to try to work on his game.

    Regarding your list:
At least according to last years performance Rafer is a dime a dozen PG. He does take care of the rock, but lacks EVERYWHERE else. Maybe he can break out this year, but I guess we will see.

Who needs to sit on Howard? He was a lousy shooter for a PF. Bottom of the barrell. Hes not getting boards, he blocks next to no shots, and he is defensively limited. What exactly is Howard giving us. I mean, according to all the stats the Rox are a worst team when Howard is on the floor, and he is our lousiest performer.

    Already agree'd.

I love Yao. I think he can be the best Center in the league. But he is not nearly the same level of player of Hakeem, and Hakeem all but single hadidly took us to the promise land. Our first Championship we had a great PF. OT rebounded, played hard D, hit shots, and was under the basket all the time. Second run, we picked up Clyde and had Hakeem in his prime. Nothing could of stopped us. You really are seriously going to tell me that Rybo, Mutombo, and Novak are going to be good enough. Not to mention I dont think Yao has ever broke 32 mins a game. Hakeem sucked up almost 40. We dont have enough decent big men for nights Yao is foul prone, or injured.

Agree'd. Anything less than Yao and TMac having career years is not going to get us a championship. Anyone believe TMac is going to be as good as his last years on Orlando?

I guess we will agree to disagree. We will see once this seasons over if your right or not. But this team is NOT even a WCF as of now much less a championship team.
