and In both cases, the answer is "no". If the T-Wolves trade KG, they would have zero interest taking back any large-contract player, because they would be in the same boat again and wouldn't have done anything. Instead, they would be rebuilding and looking to get back multiple young players who can serve as building blocks for the future. In other words, unless it's Lebron or Wade, they won't trade for another superstar player with a max contract. As such, the only teams that would interest them are those with a bunch of young, talented players absent the bloated contracts.
Poor choice for a thread title Dei ... misrepresention of the article. I changed the thread title from "KG officially on the trading block" to "[ESPN] Stein: It's time to trade Kevin Garnett"
That's what I was thinking, but the TWolves could put together a VERY good package for Oden if they really wanted him. Something like KG/Foye/#1 Pick for Oden would be more than enough compensation IMO, I don't think the Wolves doe this though.
I forgot that Mike James went there. I don't understand...how can a team with "I'm Mike James, ...!" and KG not be a serious contender? Heck, I'm sure Mike James doesn't understand it. BrockStapper: that would be VERY funny.
If they doe decide to blow up the team there, I have a feeling the Rockets might call about Mike James.
BINGO! VG you beat me to it! I was just about to say, if they move KG then if I am the Rockets I try to get in on this 'firesale' and see if Mike James is available (and this time we can pay the trade kicker). I would also inquire about Ricky Davis if James wasn't available. These are guys that can create their own shot, shoot long range and are good perimeter defenders. Things this team needs! Realistically, with Randy Foye on the Wolves roster, there is a high chance that James could be moved to open up minutes for Foye, especially if they have a firesale.
Would they be able to get Mike James with his trade clause? Is it just a trade kicker or is it a no-trade clause?
Ditto! I say dangle Scott Padgett and see if they bite. If not, I would reluctantly offer a future 2nd round pick...
If KG is smart and really cares about winning a ring, he would opt out and join Tmac and Yao for less $$. Yao and Tmac will gladly say this to him after every game while winning multiple championships, "You COMPLETE us!" KG is the perfect second fiddler and covers all of Rockets weakness, on offense and defense. His personality fits in nicely with this team too.
Guys do you thinks Minesota would have considered Rudy Gay + Stromile + 2007 first rounder + fillers for KG a fair offer? KG money would basically cripple us though - it seems.
Trade Sura, Head, Bowen, Wells, Deke, Howard, Hayes, Alston, Battier, Padgett, Lucas III, Novak, Spanoulis, JVG for Kevin Garnett. Yao Garnett McGrady That's our championship roster right there.
