i can't wait to see the second coming of matt bullard. i don't think he was a steal at 32, b/c that's about where he should have gone, but he was definitely a solid pick. defense or no defense, he's worth putting on the court if he can relieve yao of some pressure.

I admit I am excited about the guy.

Here's why: He's a proven shooter and we need shooters. :p

I predict JVG will do his best to break him but Novak were succeed anyway. Hopefully he'll be able to make an impact this season but maybe not.

Novak will be fine. He'll get plenty of playing time when the season starts. All he has to do is steal Rybo's jersey and JVG will be calling his number all the time. :D :D

OK, I know it's the off season and all, but we must still keep our sarcasm detectors well calibrated. ;)

I really think the reason any rookie has a problem with getting playing time is because they make mental mistakes.

Rybo does not make it on the court for JVG because of his superior athleticism or because of his talent. Rybo makes it on the court because he hustles and he does not make mental mistakes. Rybo is in the place on the court that JVG coaches a player needs to be.

The question about Novak that I think will determine if he can get time on the court will be can he learn JVG's defense. Not so much is he a great defender but will he be at the spot JVG wants him to be. Will he hustle for loose balls and not turn the ball over on offense?

If Novak can do those things then I think he could see significant playing time this year. If he can't then I think we will see him in short spurts and nothing more.

By all accounts Novak has a high basketball IQ and his dad was a coach so I am betting that he will be able to pick up JVG's defense pretty well...or at least better than the average rookie.

Crash5179, you are the man on this thread. You nailed it. Novak has to be the anti Stromile Swift on defense. His defensive presence will be determined by recognizing what the offense is doing and doing exactly what JVG demands in each situation. Its all BBall IQ, and very little vertical leap. He will not have to guard elite power fowards one on one. I have hopes for Novak.
