He played defense at a level we have not seen in the bubble yet you are complaining on how he "looked".

Harden scored well but you should see how much quicker and explosive he was in 18. Also notice how much leaner he was.

 

Harden didn't get traded to the Rockets this season against his will.
He didn't have no say in roster decisions.
He wasn't some neglected star.

He has been here for many years, he has been paid hundreds of millions and treated the best way possible.

disagree , this last year was the best ive seen harden play on both ends of the floor.

Its tough to evaluate the bubble due to small sample size , but im still holding the opinion that NBA "fixed" our series with OKC . Look at how dominant we were the first 2 games , then refs came in to let guys hammer james and extend the series. Vs LA we were just overmatched, especially without a 30mpg guy in House.

 

His defense and playing style overall is predicated on taking the fewest amount of steps possible. What does he excel on at defense? Post defense... Ad a guard. Because ya he's strong but also he is notorious for being slow footed at the perimeter with help and switch defense. You don't see Harden often chase down block attempt a dude in fastbreak defense. On offense, if he doesn't have the ball he stands still. When he does have the ball, now he hardly ever attacks the pick and rather just stands around dribbling hoping the defense switches to a preferred defender of his or wait around for the double.

Dantoni had to abandon his 8 seconds or less offense for Harden slowing his pace down to a crawl.

All of this was because Harden doesn't have great cardio conditioning. Don't confuse durability with cardio conditioning. It's the main reason why he sucks off ball now.

 

I vehemently disagree. Look at his 2017-18 game tape. So much more variety and explosion on offense. He was also much better at our switch perimeter defense then because he was quicker laterally.

D'Antoni slowed pace not because of Harden but because of Chris Paul.

Rockets first season under D'Antoni with Harden at PG, Rockets were top 5 in pace.

part of that is who he plays with tho . He didn’t have a lob threat , he didn’t have a starting backcourt member who was a shooting threat ... of course his offensive options are limited .

I get not having to worry about dollar amounts because we'll always offer him as much as we're allowed, but there are other details. Of course I'm sure he had a lawyer for closer scrutiny (i.e. Pelinka, formerly).

The most puzzling thing to me is navigating a trade request without an agent. I guess he had the balls to personally request a trade but not talk to his coach at all. An agent could've cleared up this PR disaster
