In a couple years, anything is possible. All it takes is 2 max players...and next summer will be a big one.

Also, notice how the Suns are gaining traction because LMA would be able to play next to a C there?

Funny how Houston has not been mentioned.

How does Aldridge get along with Harden and Howard off court? Are they good friends?

He wouldn't be top dog, and even if he were promised "co-leader" status, his shots are the type Dwight would've wanted before the injuries.

That dynamic with the shots where LMA can do damage in the paint will be an interesting chemistry question to answer.

I think we can thank Kobe.

The Lakers just need to get him out of those meeting rooms and wish for next summer to hurry up and get here so he's off their books.

Can't be right. Morey has no idea what he's doing. Right?

Probably more than just Kobe. What else would the Lakers be able to offer? They have a completely unproven big man in Julius Randle who happens to play the same position as LMA and a completely unproven rookie in D'Angelo Russell. Both look like they can be promising players, but they are young and unproven and will take years to develop.

Besides that? They will let LMA watch Nick Young chuck up bad shots? They will let LMA play with an old, broken down version of Kobe Bryant that will talk trash to his teammates all year long?

Does anyone know exactly who was in our meeting with Aldridge? The only ones I have heard of so far are McHale, Morey and Howard. What about Harden and Olajuwon, Drexler, etc?

lma probably wants to win at this point of his career. otherwise he'd choose to stay with portland sio he can make the most money. the lakers, suns and mavs dont look like teams that can win in the next few yrs. so i figure the spurs and the rockets were the only 2 real candidates to begin with.

Well, they have nothing to offer for next season. It's 2016 where they can possibly offer him Durant and another max contract player. Durant and LMA are Longhorns and Im sure it would be pretty enticing to play together along with another max player.

For 2015 though, it would be an average year where LMA gets to sleep in the city he chose to buy a home.

Right. And as interesting as that sounds, Durant to LA is a maybe.

A pitch of "sure, we are bad now but next year we might get Durant for you to play with and we might be good again!" is pretty weak.

Lakers are trying to live on their rep. Same thing happened to the Celtics when they were rudderless after Bird retired. Ever6 chump in the FO thought he was automatically the next Red Auerbach because he had the job title that used to belong to Red. Buss Sr. Is gone, Phil and his inexplicable voodoo BS magnetism has left, and they've got a bunch of B-list intellects running the show. Their smug overconfidence when they let Dwight walk was the first sign.

The guys running things think they're going to blow everybody away because of the purple and gold. 1980's Lakers were awesome because the bosses were smarter and worked harder. LA is an advantage, but the Clips were a disaster for decades, along with the Knicks who have a similar advantage in New York.

"Born on third base, think they hit a home run" describes the Lakers at this point. Next time at bat, what happened in the past is irrelevant for this plate appearance.

Can possibly offer? That's cute. Meanwhile, San Antonio and Houston can offer actual teammates, not fantasies. I'm sure the Knicks could possibly offer Melo some max contract teammates as well. Top five team in the east once they sign Durant and another max player.
