I was just responding to your argument how Vince/Bush would react to Williams by going to the other side of the field. As for championship winners - of course you talk about the QB's. But you can win Superbowls with mediocre RBs (Tampa Bay) or mediocre QBs (Baltimore). But just about every superbowl champ has a dominant D-Line (and generally a similar O-Line).
Fine, then trade down and build that O-Line or D-Line. Again, what was it...too expensive a proposition for the Texans? Multiple first rounder salaries, yikes!
I agree that trading down was the smart move. But if they really believed Mario Williams was the building block to start with, trading down wasn't an option.
Gosh, I hope this doesn't turn out to be like CORTEZ KENNEDY and the Seahawks... always a good player on a sorry team...
Then if you agree w/ trading down you know how many players we really need. One li'l ol defender just won't cut it. After dropping some good vets last season to save a few bucks, is any of this surprising? This org is a bunch of losers.
Is there any sportscaster anywhere that thinks this was a good move by the Texans? I can't find one, and you know why? This was an amazingly stupid move that the organization will regret for years, especially when they play the Saints or the Titans. The curse of Bud Adams continues; a happy day for him, a sad day for Houston fans. I am still stunned. Casserly should stay out of the public, especially the next few weeks, and maybe leave the City forever under the cover of darkness.
