I would take Landry if we were getting rid of Scola in a trade to acquire a big time wing. Having Landry/Scola is pretty redundant. We need to add a tall shotblocking defensive four if anything.

Carl Landry is on an expiring contract this season in Sacramento and has been recently dropped from the starting lineup into a sixth-man role.

And Jimmy Spencer of NBA.com is hearing he's one player who's name has come up as a possible trade chip.

"Landry doesn't fit into the team's long-term goals," he tweeted. "It's not as much that I think Landry will get traded as much as I've heard he's been the name talked about. Plus, how much would the Kings pay to keep Landry around next year anyways?"

For his production, Landry's $3 million salary this season is pretty tame. There's been some chatter the Rockets are interested in re-acquiring him. But if they feel confident about landing him in free agency, it's conceivable they could wait until the summer to acquire him instead of giving up an asset or two for him at the trade deadline.

Scola is much better than Landry, as much as I like Landry.

They should just wait for free agency if they really want him back that bad.

    I love Landry but...

We are not the right fit for him. He needs to be on a contender where he can come off the bench and provide a low post scoring presence.

We have too much young talent that needs to be developed now. Bringing in Landry just takes those developmental minutes away from guys like Hill and eventually Patterson (he will be on the Rockets roster after the trade deadline).

Also, his play has deteriorated quite a bit since leaving the Rockets. It seems as if he's lost a bit of his athleticism that allowed him to grab boards and be explosive. His rebounding numbers are horrid.

The ONLY way I would take him is if we acquired Cousins as well (package including Scola and/or Hill) to play center.

Landry returns to Houston after the trade- Rockets make a tribute video

McGrady returns to Houston after the trade- Rockets do not make a tribute video

Call me crazy, but it appeared that the Rockets wanted to stay on good terms with Landry..... or they could have wanted to help fans in the grieving process after losing a favorite player. I like to think it was both.

Landry playing behind Scola- he wouldn't see too many minutes. I really like Landry's outside shot he developed, so he became a scoring threat inside and outside the paint. Landry would be most successful playing alongside a strong center, that way he is less susceptible to double teams.

Landry is one of my favorite players ever, and I would love to see him back in Houston. A Carl Landry Rockets jersey will never go out of style. Wish I had purchased one :(

I think Landry's time is Houston is over unless there is a major shake up of the front line or if Cousins comes with him.

Cousins is starting to come together.

I'll only take Landry if the package includes Cousins.

RIGHT NOW, it doesn't make sense to bring him. No way he plays ahead of Miller or JHill and we still have Patterson. After the trade deadline if we moved one onf our Cs or PFs then maybe.

Landry was highly efficient for the Rockets, even when his usage rate was increased last year. Wouldn't mind having him off the bench. Not much of a defender but more consistent player overall than Jordan Hill.

I think we still like him, but whether we make an effort to get him back depends on how everything else falls into place (e.g. if Hill is traded as part of a larger package to land a star, etc.).

Question: If we trade for him...he is not going to be a restricted free agent in any way, right? So we would also have to look now at what we think he will be worth next summer.

    I think it's unlikely.

all the "dead spots" scoring droughts whatever you want to call them didnt exist when landry was on the team. he could score when the offense got stagnant

You think scoring has been our problem this season?

Did we really get Kevin Martin for him? I mean I loved Landry as much as the next guy, and would still want him back in his old role, but what a fleecing by Morey.
