Heaven help the Texans if they name Pete Carroll their next head coach. He's a great college coach, and a proven crappy NFL coach.
John McClain also brought it up on 610 this morning. He seems to think that the reason Carroll is so good in college and average in the NFL is because he isn't a disciplinarian like most other NFL coaches. Not sure if that's what the Texans need or not. But it is interesting that this rumor is starting to pick up steam nationally...
Success at the collegiate level rarely translates into NFL success. Two of the best coaches in NCAA tried their luck, and did terrible: Butch Davis: Brought Miami back into the national spotlight. He completely flopped with the Cleveland Browns and was fired after 3 or 4 seasons as HC. Steve Spurrier: Only lasted 2 years, as the fun n gun didn't work out at Washington.
