its no guarantee Rudy T. is still the coach of LA in 3 years. This is a non issue, its still 3 years down the road before we no longer control the rights to Yao. Until then sit back and enjoy the Yao/TMac ride

Hmm, someone run it by me again, on just WHY so much is made about Rudy T and Yao Ming?
I mean, did I MISS something during that one year stint togetherness? Or as you people seem to take to it, a long lasting friendship and air tight bond that's endured past hardships and turmoil?

For god's sake, it was ONE year of them together, and hardly together at that. Rudy barely coached Yao, Yao took a back seat to Steve and Cat iso ball (not that it's Rudy's fault), and they barely had any communication between them. Steve interacted with Yao a lot more than Rudy did his first year. Yao respected Rudy as much as he respected Moochie. If anything Yao's shown us is that he knows all about diplomacy, respects his teammates mutually, and has great issues with loyalty that if the waterboy were to leave he'd probably expresss his sympathies towards the "loss". By no means was their any real friendship, definitely not one that would cause Yao to go play somewhere else for the sake of that person. He'll sooner demand a trade to play alongside Steve than sign with the Lakers to play for Rudy.

Im sure Yao wouldnt leave. He knows Tmac came here for him, and seeing how he is I doubt he would bolt, leaving Tmac here. :)

Don't you guys remember how happy team Yao was when JVG was hired? They said JVG was the perfect coach for Yao. I don't think he's going anywhere.

I often wonder the same thing. People act as if Rudy and Yao spent years together, and that Rudy was Yao's best friend or something.

I remember Yao saying that he and the Rockets needed Rudy T. AFAICT, everything from Yao since the JVG hire has been cordial and polite, but not much more than that...
